What's going on here? Help please

@kalico thanks for the confidence but I have only had this one grow . I got extremely lucky and found this site and spent the two weeks waiting for my seeds to arrive reading all I could on here and then just the genetics from ILGM are what got me to the end of my first try . I have never grown in anything except for FFOF one time proving that even a blind dog finds a bone every now and then . Wish I could help good luck

I would have to say with your cold Temps and your watering schedule and the way your plants look they look like they’re overwatered so maybe because your room is so cold the plants aren’t actually getting a chance to dry out even though they are only one gallons you still might need to wait 3 to 4 days and that would be my best guess if they were my plants , as long as your pH is in check , but if you notice your leaves almost look like they need to be rung out like a really wet towel and it almost looks like your green is starting to lighten up which to me says over-watering hope that helps buddy…

:v::sunglasses:

Also temperature differential is important. In general it shouldn’t be much more than a 10 degreet difference between day and night temps.

Another things to consider is the fact that coco does need a lot more cal/mag than other growing media, the link Donaldj posted should help you out with that.

The plants do not really look like they are over fed, nor necessarily over watered. The containers do look small, but being fabric pots, I’m not so sure root bound is the problem, nor overwatering.

And as Mathew420 sated, 14c is too low, you really don’t want it to get below 18c if possible. And actually not below 20c before flowering.

happy growing,

MacG

I also forgot to mention that I noticed that you’re using smart pots which actually air prune your roots so you could actually run that whole run in those pots and never have to transplant them to bigger pots… that’s what smart pots are for , they air prune your roots which keeps your plants super healthy and allows you to grow big plants in smaller pots , unless you’re growing an 8-foot tall plant those pots that you’re in now are just fine , but you would really want to be around atleast a 2 or 3 gallon smart pot to get the full benefit from it I believe , but here’s a couple pics of a plant that’s in a Solo Cup and it’s almost 3 feet tall and it is not rootbound , granted it looks like it’s not happy but that’s because it’s been neglected its whole life … I’m kind of a jerk grower:smiling_imp::laughing:

If you notice the Solo Cup has been altered which is basically the same thing as the smart pot and that’s why the root system is so strong and healthy even though you can’t see the roots but if I take it outside and hose It Off the roots are basically a solo cup…

Thanks for all the replies guys. I’m kinda a newbie but I’m sure I’ll work it out.

Will wait to water and only ph’d water next time. Then feed again. Also got a ph pen and temp and humidity gauge.

Thanks again guys, cause without you guys I’ll be lost.

That’s why we’re here … to help one another out and get things done… also as a side note… what you have to understand is the reason your plant gets choked out when it gets rootbound is because the plant only feeds from the tips… reverse osmosis Works through those fine fine fine tips so you can have roots that are 8 miles long but the problem is they Circle and circle and circle the pot and they can only feed from the tips… so when you use a smart pot or something similar to what I do… once the roots meet the edge of the pot they get AirPruned so it’s like snipping the tips of the roots and so they make a new root a little bit farther back in the dirt to come out and look for more nutrients and then once those roots get into the pot they do the same thing so you end up with thousands and thousands of roots or root tips whatever you want to call them , that constantly take in nutrients and water… so that’s why those smart pots are so cool… the only problem I have with them is that your roots grow into them , they get hard to clean …you allmost need to throw them in the washing machine and who wants to replace a washing machine every other month… so that’s my only issue but other than that they are very great and that’s my two cents on Smart pots…

Peach fuzz if I take a 3-gallon standard pot and do holes similar to what you’ve done on that red solo cup can I expect similar results as the Solo Cup? ( air pruned roots ) What size holes would I drill?

  • thanks

smart pots air prune nicely

Yes smart pots are precisely the problem when you get into warmer temperatures … @Paranorman it’s the fact that they dry out so quickly , so you find yourself watering constantly , the difference between what I do and the smart part is that I’m able to regulate how much moisture the pot is able to absorb and how much water the plant can feed on so it actually gives me a little bit of a way to control what’s going on as far as water uptake… then when I start to see my tips burn , I know I’ve got a little bit too much nutrients and they need more water and I can start to add water… either way that’s how your plant takes up its nutrients so the more tips the better off you are… Is all’s I was trying to say… Now understand that this is in soil here’s some pics of what I do and it’s just a tray with water and nutrients… I start off in rockwool cubes , after I get roots I throw them into a cup with either lava rock or hydroten with about an inch of water inch and a half in a tray with nutrients and this is what the outcome is and eventually I threw them into a system that I will eventually post and you may see it if you haven’t already seen it and that’s what I’m running…

I’m going to get one of those odd 3 gallon smart pots with all those holes from my hydro store for my 8-Ball Kush plant but I’m also considering drilling a few pots as shown above and see what that gives me ?

I’ve got a bunch of 'em hanging around so I’m going to experiment with those three incredible bulk plants, or maybe two of the three, keeping one for an experiment control

@Paranorman I use a soldering iron on my pots because then it creates a strong bond between the hole in the pot and I don’t have to worry about it cracking on down the road I have pots that are 4 or 5 years old and they’re still Rockin and I just love them because of the simple fact that I can clean them without having major issues vs. Smart pots which I like …but at $4 a piece and the fact that it’s so hard to clean them I would just rather stick to my pots that I use and just alter them if you haven’t seen the thread I will post a couple pics of what I’m talking about for you brother …so that way you can rock that and see where that gets you …because it works really well with hard plastic pots and there’s a thread somewhere in here where I explained it before in the past on one of my ramblings…

. just make sure you’re in a well-ventilated area before you decide to do that with a soldering iron and go crazy…:smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp:

I like to water this is when I get up close and personal with all my plants

I like the idea lol I simply throw smart pots in washing machine when done run them through once with soap then a second time just water. I am using smart pots right now for 2 reasons I already own some and they add to my RH nicely

I would love to be able to do that the only problem is the old lady would kill me I just bought her a brand-new washing machine and if I did decide to throw the money at smart pots and then want to wash them I would not want to destroy the washing machine I just bought her not only that I don’t want her to kill me but other than that I kind of like smart pots they’re just a pain in the ass to clean if you don’t have a washing machine to use…lol

lol almost took a job at hydro store then went hey wait means the cops will be watching me free nutes and discounts weren’t worth unwanted attention

Not that kind of Nursery knucklehead … real plants , trees , lemon trees , Orchards any kind of plant you can imagine … But ya. Nothing to do with MMJ … knucklehead… Lol …that’s the way we think , not other people… LOL don’t be so nervous move to a place where you can do this on the real and not have to worry about things…
