What Kind of Magnifier to See Trichomes?

Trying to figure out what I need in order to check trichomes for ripeness. Don’t want something to connect to a smart phone. What magnification do I need, etc ? Looked at loupes and handheld magnifiers on Amazon, but the reviews went both ways on everything! Need some recommendations from someone who actually has and uses the product (preferably available on Amazon (with links, please). Thanks!

Welcome! I use this. It just clips overnyour phone lens and you zoom in. Works real well

Thanks for responding, but as per my post, I was interested in something manual, not something for a phone. Something I could use stand-a-lone.

For straight magnifying I use a Carson

Hard to use as a handheld because of magnification level. Works well enough as a tabletop.
To keep a record of them I use a USB Pluggable scope. Plug into laptop and can get some great pics.

I have several 10x and 30x loupes and lenses that I can’t distinguish clear from cloudy with so they pretty much stay in the drawer other than to take a quick look.

Bought this in the beginning, was VERY disappointed. This Carson isn’t worth a damn unless
you have something laying flat on the table, Trying to get it to focus on anything 3 dimensional
is a nothing short of a prank because the viewing area is extremely limited. If others find it
helpful then “woohoo” for them. I’m just giving my opinion from personal use, This isn’t a
knock on anyone using it.

If you’re looking to upload photos the zoom attachment posted above is great.

If you just want to verify for yourself, buy a jewelers loop in a magnification you are best able
to see.
