Hello, I growing some female autoflowering plants outdoors in pots.
It says it will autoflower in 63 to 70 days (gorilla for example) from seed to harvest. It also says it’ll grow to 60 to 110 cm. But given the lack of the right conditions it will probably only get to 22 cm at the 63 day mark.
What happens if I plant it in the wild and leave it instead of harvesting? What if I leave it in the wild for a year and is able to survive on its own? I know after 63 to 70 days it flowers no matter what, and then it goes back into vegetation state.
What happens next? Does the cycle start over, will it grows for another 63 days and flower again?
Im considering planting dwarf ones (10-20 cm) in the wild and leaving them to fend for themselves. And then coming back to it in a year or two. Can i harvest them at a later time outside of the first intial autoflowering time frime? Will the plant flower again or produce bud?
As far as I know it will die. Autoflowers are day length neutral plants. Just like most vegetable plants, sunflowers, etc. When they are done flowering they are at the end of life.
Photoperiod plants can reveg after flowering if you help them along.
You may get a form of success by using regular, rather than feminized seeds. If you plant a plot and if one of the plants is male and if it pollinates the females they will flower with seed. If the seeds land on soil and germinate they’ll make new plants, ready for harvest in the fall.
That’s a lot of ifs, but Mother Nature has been pulling this off for a very long time. Just know that if successful, you have to harvest at a particular time in the fall (depends on your climate / latitude). You won’t be able to just toodle in July of 2025 and expect anything but a refreshing walk.
It will flower and die even you can not reveg an auto. A photo period will flower and die in the fall. It wont reveg unless you bring it inside and put it under 18/6 light schedule it wont do it on its own
Pay no attention to what the seed pack info or breeder says the plant will be ready when its ready. Those numbers are a general time frame at best, under the most optimum and consistent circumstances. And even then every plant shows a different phenotype which can flower longer or quicker. Theres so many other factors that changes to outcome. Wait until the plant is ready she will tell you.
Read up on revegging autos. Supposed to be able to do so and the auto then becomes a photo type when revegged. Seriously search revegging an auto and read. A. Guy explains it in full detail on what happens when u reveg an auto where most will tell u that u cannot. He has had success in cloning autos and revegging them I yo a photo type of plant not auto version. Was actually a super good read and I am willing to give an auto a shot to see if it works out. All it takes is leaving enough green on the stalk to let it keep on growing and I guess they reveg. We shall see as I have 3 different types of autos going right now so I’m gonna try it on one after it finishes. Most likely the widow maker as she appears to be like a week ahead of the other 2
