What do I have here and how do I get rid of them

Damn - but glad you got after them. Take a good look at your plants. I was surprised by how many spots they entered the stems. Here are couple photos of what I found before I cut out all of the damaged stems

I am going to reapply today. It has been 4 days so gotta keep after them.

It has been a week since I cut out the caterpillar infestation. I have sprayed every 4 days with Jacks. I have not found anything new and the remaining buds on the jack herer autos look OK
Uploading: IMG_0003.JPG… Uploading: IMG_0009.JPG… You can see where I cut

Had to remove all of the apical stems too. Such a shame.
The NL is rebounding as well.
You can see the new growth

I put the screen on its frame. Hopefully it prevents further intrusions.

I missed a couple photos when it timed out on me.

@beardless that’s great to see. I’m starting to deal with some kind of leaf eater. Once they recover from transplant shock and the furnace I put them through.

Looking good, nice recovery, hate caterpillars.

Anything that eats up through the stalk of anything is my enemy :rage:
Had trouble with cut worms living in my garden a few years back, real PITA.
Looks like you have control of it, did you put Aloe on the cuts? Wonderful SHTUFF for healing these babies! :sunglasses:

I cut everything out. I went to the node below the entry point and removed everything above it.

Well done on the recovery, seems like you are out the bushes, I would still keep a close eye, but you know that. Fully agree with Holmes on the aloe, otherwise keep them taped up for a week or so…:sunglasses::v:

@holmes @Arrow I wasn’t thinking about where I cut just the caterpillar’s point of penetration. Thanks will dress the wounds today.

Nothing wrong with were you cut, you handled a stress situation very well in my opinion. Keep an eye on them, and they will reward you…:sunglasses::v:

High,
My eyes are definitely not the greatest but do I see a walking stick bug on the plant or is that my imagination?
Ger

I don’t see it. Which post and what photo?

First pic. Attached to the limb. Or is that just damp string ?

must be part of the net

The “cutters” in my garden came in through the rootball, only had an exit hole.
I pulled up a couple more with same symptoms and disected them till I seen what I was looking for! I think you are good, but vigilance pays off for us growers every time!

Okay It must be part of the net.

That is tough. Can’t see them until you see the resulting damage.

I had an infestation of tobacco worms last year. Started in my Jack Herer. Didn’t catch it at first. I treated with BT and it took care of any newer worms but the ones in the stims were to deep to be affected by the spray. They have to eat it to work.
I have been treating with BT this year preventively.
