So I’m growing 3 watermelon auto flowers by rqs. and the nutes are alga grown, alga bloom by plagron which say is organic.
I am using a premixed preferilized soil that says its fertilised for 3 weeks.
1 of the 3 is the biggest and strongest, hasn’t shown any symptoms of anything. The other 2 tho are just starting to show something and I want to catch it before it’s worse.
I started giving my plants nutes after the second week and they where looking great, growing fast. I gave them 1ml per litre grow and 0,5ml bloom which is half the ammount they recommend, then after 3 days I watered again with same nutes because I saw them growing very fast so thought they could use the nutes.
After 3 days from the feeding though the newer baby leaves started to look more lime green and yellow, and then some of them started having some yellowing, in some it was uniform on the tips only, but others it formed random yellowing as you will see in the pics. And others from the inside out. Water pH I’m always around 6,5. These pics are today, day 21. How am I doing?
What do you think this might be?
I’m thinking maybe nitrogen or iron deficiency but I don’t know. Soil should have all those micronutes right? I’m also not using cal mag as It’s my first grown and wanted to have as less nutes as possible. Maybe root rot because i think I overwatered the first week and leaves where curling.
Anyways thank you if you read this and I would appreciate your help.
Thanks for the crazy fast response. Its just that I dont know if I am using too much nutes or too few because nute burns happen with toxicity right? Also light is at least 65cm above. But cheers anyways
Can you post a few pics of the complete plants? It will help. In the pics you posted I don’t see anything serious at all. New growth comes in lime green very often, it will darken.
You say water pH is always around 6.5, are you talking about before or after you mix your nutrients into it?
Your nitrogen looks fine. As for iron; you would be seeing yellowing at the tips expanding outward. It is normal for the new growth to be a lighter shade of green (or even yellow looking) until chlorophyll fills in the new growth with a darker shade of green.
An iron deficiency looks like this. Your plant is getting the iron it needs to be healthy.
Some lights will make the tips look more pale than they really are. Try to move the plant in a different light and check the color there. I used to worry about the same thing for no reason.
No unfortunately, i just know the soils is fertilized for 3 weeks with npk 14-12-12. Im doing a budget grow so didnt get any ppm meter. I have alga grow by plagron, its organic stuff. But i just heard that algae can produce root rot so i dont know.
I also dont water till runoff because i saw over watering issues and im growing in soil. Why are there though , some burned tips and other leaves have just some random yellowing like this leaf on pic 3? And on top of that the newer tops have yellowing growing from inside out? Old leaves look healthy, just the newer ones are a bit twisty and yellow.
@puff That leaf looks like a genetic mutation, no need to worry, I don’t believe. As @Cap_Ron suggests can we get a full plant pic? From what I’m seeing they look pretty healthy.
Maybe not, but I add nutrients to my soil when I fill my pots, so it’s kind of over kill in my opinion to also use liquid nutrients. Seems to invite burning.
Thanks guys for your suggestions and fast help. I wish I knew this place 1 month ago xD. So…
This is the day after, and yesterday i watered with 2mls grow 0.8ml bloom in 1 litre to see if i would see some new greenness cuz I just fed water previously thinking i was putting nutes too often. Even though 3,4 leaves showed slight yellow tips and some just a brown tip of that bigger leaf I think they look better today.
I concur your babies look great! don’t freak if they do some weird stuff once in a while…Ive had some start of funky and end up being just fine…Its natural though to be on edge after a few grows under my belt I don’t fret so much…My problem lately is near harvest when I get a bad caterpillar problem…But if I were you Id keep up with whatever you are doing so far They look great…Healthy!
On yeah and Welcome!!!
