Weak main stem issue

Good morning! I’ve got an auto that sprouted on July 11 that’s had a rough time due to my mistake the first few days. I tried to drown her. That said, she’s made a comeback and I have hope I can take this one to harvest. The problem is its stem is weak. Looking for options and opinions.

Blue Cheese Auto
-About 4 weeks from sprout
-Method: Organic Soil ()happy frog)
-Vessels: 7 gallon fabric
-using RO with Calmag
-PPM: 200 at solution (no runoff yet)
-PC60 used to measure
-Indoor in ACI 2’x4’x6’
-Light system: ACI commercial 280W Ionframe
-Actual wattage draw: Don’t know but light is about 11” above plants on lowest setting
-18/6
-Temps; Day(80 degrees , Night 73 degrees
-Humidity; growing in VPD mode targeting .8 - 1.0. Humidity varies anywhere from 68% at night to 75% daytime
-Ventilation system; Yes, 6”
-AC, Humidifier controlled in VPD mode
-Co2; no

The other plant is about 12 days old

Man that’s coming out of the ground at such a harsh angle.

You can use a net, or get some gardening wire that’s rubber wrapped and make a little brace for it but those are support, not strengthening.

I am very curious to see how it changes up to mid flower. You hopefully will get a lot of bounceback and it’ll double in size.

LST stem strengthening is a fan, or a daily shake, or netting it down, etc.

Unsure on something this late.

12 day old one looks awesome and is going to mog the older one.

Also, plant 1 has a lot of internodal space. I found my light at the top, max power, easier. Vs. adjusting height/power. Do you have a PAR meter?

I have the Photone App which I hope is measuring accurately. It returns PPHD and DLI and I used info here to get the optimum based on the grow stage. I lowered the light a few days ago hoping the weak plant would react positively.

Appreciate the reply dude.

As was said use some plant wire and a stake to help stabilize the main stalk. You may have to adjust it as it grows, but do not worry this one was just as bad of an angle as yours when small and clearly it did just fine.

Happy growing friends!

I would be tickled to death to end up with a plant as full of flower as that one!

Thanks @Solidgold91 and @AVeryScaryGhost

I agree I’m lucky the plant is where it s at considering I tried to kill it at day 3!

Perfect. Just watch the tips of the small one. You could consider the big one a “to heck with it” plant and see what happens if you go outside normal parameters for stuff. It’s what I did with mine after some root rot and it turned out ok. At a minimum these are learning experiences and we’re both lucky we’re getting ANYTHING out of them imo, so all plusses xD

For sure it’s going to need something because of that crazy angle but you could also get another branch or two out of it since it’s so close to the base and getting so much light.

Remove the leaves below the red line and add medium up to that red line Growmie :love_you_gesture:

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks @OGIncognito

@OGIncognito how much water should I give it after trimming? I’m thinking about 4-6 ounces at the edge of the vessel. I know the roots are established.

I’ll likely put this one in the greenhouse after making the adjustments. Let’s see what she will do.

Stand her up straight, add the extra medium and water that 4-6 ounces in a circle about 3” away from the main stem. This will promote root growth Brother , they’ll spread out searching for the moisture :love_you_gesture:

I’d second the wind training if you haven’t given it a try. I put an oscillating fan on one that sprouted sideways because of crappy placement on my part. I put the fan on it honestly just because of rotation while it was a little smaller than yours. It waved around some but within about 48 hours it was straight up with the thickest stalk of the 4 I have going. Still the thickest stalk and now my biggest plant. Seems like thick stalk equals better uptake. Mine was just an accident though and these guys are pros that have been helping me a ton too so I’d bet all these options will be great.

Grabbed a picture with hand for scale when rearranging and taking off energy suckers today. Ignore my newbie LST.

Dude - finally got around to reading your journal over the past day or two. What a ride you had! Great reading for me and any other aspiring grower. Still got some reading to do but I’m taking notes on people to tag as needed.
