I want to try and grow a tree one day. But for now I don’t have the room. Indoors is way more control. It’s just too hot in Florida unless you have a sick greenhouse with a cooling system.
Some issues with manifold though, the main one being structure. Cannabis plants are not designed to grow that way, consequently, the have issues splitting the stalk. There is some doubt that it produces any differently than topping at the 4th node? It markedly delays development and results in a longer veg period.
I think its wierd how modern cannabis strains grow so differently than older ones. Definitely can see the move to eliminate plant and promote bud!
@Cannabian I topped 1 plant on node 2, one on node 3. Currently those two have more shoots, even canopy. Like completely symmetrical.
I topped the other 2 at node 6, didn’t remove lower shoots. The canopy is even because I had to bend branches, but still not even completely even. They have less shoots (colas) over all.
I definitely wasn’t hugely keen on the idea of chopping my little plants, essentially in half. Over all I figured pain is beauty, and I will most definitely main line every plant I grow from now on at node 3.
As you can see I didn’t go to the extreme like a true manifold or mainline. I only topped twice at the beginning and a 3rd top pre flip.
Works for me. Ran a test, got my results
The technique was devleoped for fruit production, primarily grapes and apples. It qas used to orient plants east west to ripen fruit quicker. It requires trellises as do mainlined pot plants, hence the scrog netting. Glad to here you have a technigue that works for you.
Thanks bros. I managed to buy the brightest dehumidifier on Amazon. Using the box to cover lights lol. A lot of bending going on .
First sign of pistils! Either my new dehumidifier is working or it’s almost time to water because my humidity is finally down a little…
Outta likes but nice! @MrPeat
Nice startup @Wannabe make sure you cover any little LED lights on auxiliary equipment with some tape or ? You should be ok not boxing the humidifier
@Wannabe brother let me know about your dehumidifier. I’m in the market for 1 but the price tags scare me. I can get 1 at Wally World for like $350. But it’s an a/c with heat and dehumidifier functions equal to a 86pint dehumidifier. Rated for 10,000 sg feet. Bit of a over kill but it gets really hot in the summer time here
That’s how I feel about my humidifier, the little led lights up the whole plastic body.
Not sure if I’d be ok without the box haha. The slits on the side and top emit the light. There’s multiple colors on the front that emit through and out the top and sides. It was 40 bucks. https://www.amazon.com/Dehumidifier-Electric-Dehumidifiers-Basements-Bathroom/dp/B07Q5KTRXZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?keywords=grow+room+dehumidifier&qid=1576355733&sr=8-16
@primus You def don’t need anything over 200 bucks for a tent. If I could get a refund and spend 75 to 100 range i would.
Lights on in 2 hours I’ll take some pics of it.
@Wannabe Maybe you can go to a welding store and get some of that green shielding plastic that’s used with arc, mig and tig welding. I don’t know if it’s true but supposedly the plants will ignore green light. Forget where I read that…maybe you can google it
@primus actually work in a welding shop I’m a steel fabricator and do aluminum, stainless heli-arc. I’ll definitely try that actually. We have a ton of those laying around. One of my many crestions.
Steel business is a great trade!
Now that looks cool. I’d love to help build a bridge. Steel fab is where it’s at, no unions in Florida but can still do pretty well.
@Wannabe that where I first started out… Built alot of bridges around Orlando, Tampa, Miami… We only fab so don’t do site erection but went to alot of job sites if there were any issues. Good times for sure
I love this shop but one day I’d like to have a big dualie utility truck with a welder and all the bells and whistles. Do some mobile welding. So you must be from Florida too. Lately there’s been a lot of work here. A few buddies of mine I’ve met through the trade have picked up new jobs pretty quick. Can’t see myself leaving the trade my bro and dad weld as well.
@Wannabe I taught my son to weld too, he graduates this year and he’s going to the bridge shop…I tried to talk him out of it but it’s been good to me and he wants to be apart of changing to landscape of America too…lol
Born and raised there 43 years… Moved to the mountains… Now a hillbilly…4 seasons, little traffic and nice folks. Definitely a move up in life quality… Lol
