Using colloidal silver to create feminized seeds

I spray the day before the light flip then every 5-6 days , between weeks 2-3 is pretty evident on the production of pollen sacks. The receiving plant roughly 14-20 days later on the light flip so that she’s in the peak pollination period.

Around week 3 and after the 3rd treatment. I stopped spraying after the 3rd round

Check out" grow from your heart" on youtube breeding and making feminized seeds this grower can help you out with using colloidal silver @Wastlelandgrow

Great suggestion. The channel has a boatload of breeding videos.

Thanks Brother, that’s what I needed to know . Will plan accordingly, probably flip the seed girls this weekend. 30 days from sprout and they’re 18 inches now, don’t want that many getting too big….

The peak pollination timing on the receiving plant is around weeks 2-4 of lower.

Hand dabbed this Southern exposure backcross with some 11 month old pollen I had in the freezer. She didn’t explode with seeds but I did get around 25 and I’m working on one of the offsprings on this one for reversing and a lot of :folded_hands::folded_hands::folded_hands::laughing::love_you_gesture:

Approximately 10-12 days later

My understanding when using colloidal silver or Silver Thiosulphate Solution (STS) is you apply it to a female plant before flipping and during flipping so it develops into a male (or a female with male flowers). My understanding is you need to use colloidal silver a lot more often during this process (every day for several weeks) compared to STS, which gets applied two times.

Colloidal silver is available from most health food shops or online. Silver Nitrate and Sodium Thiosulphate (the ingredients of STS) can be bought from a chemical supply company (usually online). Both chemicals should be kept in a cool dry dark place (preferably the fridge). STS should be made up and used on the day (or within 24 hours) because it breaks down quickly and is useless after a week or two (depending on light and temperature).

Both chemicals make the plant that has been sprayed, poisonous to inhale or ingest so you spray the plant outside or in a separate area and when it has dried you can put it back in the tent or wherever it lives. After the plant has produced pollen you get rid of the plant and don’t smoke it because you can end up in hospital.

You only spray the plants at night just before lights go off because the light can cause the leaves to burn where the wet chemical is. Spraying at night (before lights out) means the chemical can soak into the leaves and should be dry by morning when the light comes back on. When the leaves are dry they shouldn’t burn.

Depending on the concentration, the plants can be burnt from the STS and you need to be careful handling and making this stuff. Rubber gloves, a full length apron, safety glasses and a plastic face shield are recommended. You also need really good ventilation (air flow) in the room when making it. If you get any on your skin, wash it off with soapy water immediately.

I’m not sure if we are allowed to post links to other websites (competition to this place) but if you google sts and colloidal silver for plants, there should be a couple of weed sites that have very detailed information about using these products to turn female plants into males so you get feminized seed.

And when flipping plants that are being turned into male, you do them 2 weeks before flipping the females. You want the pollen ready when the female flowers are young so they have more time to develop mature seeds. If you pollinate female flowers that are old, the seeds don’t always get enough time to develop properly and you get sterile seeds that don’t germinate.

Getting cuttings from all the plants so if it doesn’t work on the main plant, you still have the plant, albeit in a smaller cutting form.

Plants need to be sexually mature before flipping (generally 2-3 months for photoperiod plants). Plants that are 3 months old give better results than 2 month old plants.

I’ve done them with CS, I have a generator, this is my first time with STS, main difference is spray intervals. Thanks for the info.

CS has more potential for this than STS in my opinion and using both :love_you_gesture:
