Hi everyone! Need some advise on my second attempt to germinate seeds. I dropped 5 seeds on 06/03, one AK47 cracked w/in 24 hrs, one Sour Diesel in 48 and both are an inch or so above ground and doing well. The other 3 have been stubborn. The other AK47 and Sour Diesel are shown below, the sole Super Skunk hasn’t even cracked yet.
I have only used water at this point, started in glasses at 80 F over a seedling mat, transferred to wet paper towels on saucers at 80 F, then removed saucers at 83 - 84F. After removing the saucers, the two below cracked and are peeking out but they have stayed in the pictured state for 12+ hours now. The SS still has not cracked.
Should I be patient and continue to soak all of them or maybe transfer them into a water / 3% peroxide solution? Or maybe just go ahead and plant these two and be patient with the Super Skunk? Give up on any of them and drop some replacements?
Thx. Yeah, I’d rather see them a bit longer myself. They were cracked open yester morning and by nightfall looked like this, and didn’t change any by this morning. Patience is not my stong point.
@dirtydave Haven’t tried that yet. I’m still working on finding my preferred method. This is my second germination attempt, first was 5 for 5 - Blue Dream photos. These are autos.
Have you ever had to dig any back up and try again?
I think we all have took a peak at a seed that you thought should have come up I’ve dropped a new seed only to have the one I figured was done pop up a few days later.
@d-Jawz my most recent I put in the dirt with a tail not much larger than that, maybhave been the same size, and she was up in 2-3 days. Can’t remember who told me or if I read it, but soaking them to long can drown them. So I did the 3 parts water to 1 hydrogen peroxide. Dropped @ 11am on 5/12, not even 16hrs later she had tail and went in soil, @ noon on 5/15 she was upright.
@kellydans@Bracketh Thanks! I did what y’all here suggested and put em in the dirt yesterday evening. I too have read where a seed can drown from soaking too long, as is probably the case with this last seed, and possibly the ones I planted last night.
But I dropped the last one in a shot glass of the 3 to 1 peroxide solution this morning. Started bubbling right away - I’ll see what happens.
I usually soak in a warm cup of water 24 hours that helps to soften the shell an onto the Paper towel method. they usually sprout within one day. Good luck
