They’re fantastic and a total game changer for my grow!
I run Jacks with mine, like @OGIncognito said, mix fill once a week and forget about it (except the occasional ph check on the reservoir.
I use autopot dot USA. They have the older and newer styles
I regularly run 3 gallon fabric pots in Autopots: get 12 to 16 oz. per plant with that setup.
I’ve only used coco and Promix in the Autopots but believe there is a slight edge to using Promix. Not enough to warrant the additional cost, but still.
My favorite and still chasing that 1 pounder. A little over 12 zips has been my best but I’m not home thru the week to set a SCROG up to get a larger yield. This on my retirement bucket list or challenge
That’s what I use, a bale is only $50 and will fill a dozen pots, so 3 runs. I also use airdomes and pump air thru the roots, this Christmas got the bases and pot socks for them too! I wrap the airdomes with landscape fabric to keep everything clean. Here’s the setup ready for the next run, in the various stages of assembly.
And in the pot ready to fill. I also drilled 2 holes in each corner of the pots and ran twine along the edges so that I can tie my LST wires down.
I’ll put a little bit of perlite in the bottom to fill the air base holes as they recommend. Hopefully they will have plants in them in 3 weeks, seedlings are getting their feet under them now!
Promix BX with mychos and fungicide costs me $38 for a 60 lb bale, cheaper than what I paid for coco here. I don’t mind the cost as long as the results are there .
I have a a quick question. New on all. Have watched read enjoyed all of this. Amazing group. So i am not growing Satan salad as of yet. Goofy state. But i do have a set up ready. I have been growing tomatoes in the tent. Using autopot wicking. My question is how often do you top water? Sorry if i missed that. Thanks again. Y’all are some amazing growers.
But do they become rootbound by mid flower?
Never had one root bound in 3 gallon pots, I run my plants (2) in a 2’ x 4’ x 6’ and those size pots serve this tent’s size as well as produce a solid yield. 6-10 zip average per plant. Look back at the pics posted, 2 plants in 3 gallons pots fill the grow space. This makes plant maintenance and air flow manageable plus the light penetration
You only top feed the 1st 12-14 days, this period is used for establishing a root structure that will feed from the middle to the bottom of the pot
The only thing massachusetts has going for it is legalized growing marijuana otherwise im ashamed of what its become with its sanctuary cities and people in power, Go Trump my hero
Thanks so much for the reply. I guess my question is how do you keep top from drying if im feeding in the auto pot? Any of that make sense lol. Just wasnt sure.
The top of the medium doesn’t matter Growmie, the roots once established from the initial top feed are feeding from the damp medium in the middle and bottom of the pots on a bottom wicking system
Welcome to ilgm @mjamesmedic
Visualize a plant in nature drawing water from the ground and what remains evaporates from the surface. The auto pots allow for a more natural absorption process. Everything from the bottom and the plants utilizes as needed.
I love the autopots and having the dry top, helps keep the water from sitting around and rotting the stem of overwatered, and the plant gets exactly what it can use.
This is what i was wondering!! Hey thank y’all so much. Thanks for the welcomes. Love this stuff. Lots to learn but thats the fun part
Our pleasure Growmie and hope you hang around and grow a pound or 20
Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day.
Appreciate that farmer
