Ok, well that makes my heart sink a bit. That wasn’t enough light even in the reflective tent? I will look into that other light. I’ll let my husband know that might have to be my Valentine’s present.
My strongest suggestion by far, is to look into Jack’s 321. It is a nutrient formula that is very easy to use, easy to mix, and truly idiot proof. It is what I am using. It is not organic? So I think if you were looking for organic, it may not be for you. If you are looking for organic, I can tag some people who had some good experience doing organic grows. I am not one of them. Anyhow, yes Jack’s is wonderful. And there are several others that we can recommend, depending on your needs. But you will find the vast majority of us use jacks because it is good from seed to finish, with very little additional supplementation required.
As far as what you have on hand, I would do a quick Google search, for what the NPK ratio is on cannabis. I think that whenever I am in veg stage, I am still fairly light on nitrogen, and heavy on potassium and phosphorus. I think they may be close to the same ratio one to one to one, but I can’t swear to that without looking.
Thank you and yes, I would prefer organic. how did you guess? So, It would be very helpful to connect with folks working towards that same goal.
@JaneQP and @MeEasy are my go-to guys for organic grows. I think @SmokeyMtnHighs may also be endeavoring to do organic this next go around, too.
Thanks for the tag @Graysin ! @MeEasy and @SmokeyMtnHighs and I are using earthdust in living soil. Mix your soil, add the base, let it cook, and topdress twice - that is my kind of growing, simple.
A couple other organic growers off the top of my head are:
@oldmarine
@patchman
@Skydiver
@anon86641082
I know there are more organic growers out there and hopefully the ones I tagged can provide more contacts and information.
You will definitely need more light soon. If not you will be pretty disappointed on your 1st harvest which is usually a deal breaker for most.
Ok thanks, I looked that up and Earthgrow sounds great. I’m assuming you topdress with the “boost” formula like the video said? Also, are you planting your “soaked” seed straight away in it’s 5 gallon cloth bag?
I just started with Jack’s and Coco so I couldn’t tell you much about organics. I’m not even sure which growers here are start to finish, 100% true organic, but they’re around.
Organic is best to blend/mix your own soil. You can just water for the first month or so, then top dress every couple of weeks, while still only watering.
With the Photone app, you slide to DLI and you can select your lighting cycle (18/12/6). @BobbyDigital literally lit my tent and knows his stuff.
I’m still pretty new to indoor growing, only about ⅓ of the way through my first grow, so I’m still on training wheels. Buuuuuut with a little patience, it’s fun AF!!! Don’t be afraid to ask stuff. Whoever doesn’t know the answer, knows the growers that does!
Yeah that’s correct. I’m on my first grow (with jacks nutes 321) I’m cooking my soil now for my next grow(switching to Earth Dust) I personally did now “soak” my seeds at all. I put them straight into the pots I’m growing in (no transplanting) all my seeds sprouted in 4 days (alot quicker then I expected lol) feel free to check out my journal as I literally started my journal to ask questions then bought equipment and started my grow. I’m probably going to harvest 2 of my 4 possibly this weekend. You will definitely get all the help you need from the great people here! Thanks for the tag @JaneQP .
OOOOhhhhh geez, looking at this DLI chart you sent, my reading was 3.7 so I lowered the light again but not as close as I had them before where I was feeling warmth on they hand. I’ve got is reading 10.2 on the DLI now. If the goal is 35-50 DLI, I am in big trouble. Should I keep the light on 24/7 now because I have the wrong lights?
They are not auto. I’ve been doing a 14 hour light cycle at the moment.
A couple good references
recommended pH from KoolMed
I use pH down and pH up from Advanced Nutrients
General Hydroponics also has reliable pH up/down.
Get a 5ml dropper and you are all set
If you will be mixing nutrients this growth stage PPM chart is handy
Some of my seedling looked much worse than yours. Definitely salvageable. Get them under a decent veg light and don’t drown them (I have been known to do that) and they will take off.
I’d start with an 18 hour light cycle until you get better lights. I highly recommend KingBrite lights (the 240w is stocked in the US so you can pick it up for ~$170h). If you want US made, then I’d go for HLG (Horticulture Lighting Group) but they’ll definitely run you a bit more (I think I paid $180 for a 200 watt “Diablo Mini”).
Yes, the HLG260 was recommended to me but that is close to $300 bucks. Ouch
I still need to wait a few weeks to get a new light. Do you think the 240 will be enough in the 3’x3’ tent or should I hold out to the 260?
I use fabric pots. I start them in little quart bags.
Seedlings and rooted clones go in these for their first month or so, then I just pop them into a larger pot.
I don’t stop there. These pots can go in or on a larger pot.
There is zero stress on the plant at “transplant” and a whole lot less stress on this grower…
Let me tap @Nicky ’s brain for that one. I think it would be more than enough for a 2x2, probably a 3x3 would be just fine. The specs allegedly can do up to a 5x5 but I wouldn’t be too involved in testing it over a 5x5.
For what it’s worth I’m using mine to flower out a 4x2 space (it’s in a 4x4 tent but I have an HLG on the other half of the space).
You will have that. Keep trying but make some changes. Hope you write down what your doing every time you visit your grow.
Might even consider 20/4 light for now. But never 24/0, all livings things need a nap😉
Correct 240w will work in a 3x3, Infact I run one in a 3x3.
I much prefer to double up and run two 240w in a 3x3 because the coverage is ideal and that leads to a tent of more bud.
However running 1-3 plants under a 240w is doable.
Try to keep the plants short and well even on the canopy.
Yes, 4hr of true darkness will greatly reduce stress and thus deficiencys as those who have ran both schedules know.
Ooohh so you aren’t taking them out of the starter bags but just sliding them into bigger bags and backfilling with more soil? Can you reuse the bags or do you have to start fresh each time with new bags?
