my 1st grow, i planted 10 autos. 20 hour light
all fems, all flowered on thier own
however, not necessarily on the time schedule that may be stated as each grow is different with way too many variables to compare
on 1 hand, i am glad i chose autos for my first grow, as there seems to be a lot of pressure, until a couple weeks in when it dawns on you that you got the basics. And things don’t exactly happen at breakneck speed in growing plants from seed (except, the stretch), but not having to worry if you screwed up by flowering too early or too late is nice
on the other hand, again, when you realize that you have the basics, photos become a much better option, because you can screw up a dozen times in veg and the plant will still likely make it to flower, if you get your act together by the flip. autos, you screw up, your yield is threatened. every single time you do something that even might be wrong, the thought of reduced yield instantly crosses your mind, and not in a good way.
I havent completed my grow yet and have not grown photos, so i dont really know. i just see downsides i did not foresee with choosing autos as a first grow. i am DEFINITELY not unhappy, but i might have travelled a different road. not matter what, remember, it is a weed and it wants to live. add the fact that we have been growing stuff for ages as a species, and there was less to fear than my imagination provided
also, if you havent explored it, consider looking into coco coir as a medium. i did a lot of research, and for my goals and lifestyle, it had significant benefits. It has not disappointed so far, and as long as a little bit of science doesn’t scare you, it might be worth investigating
good luck!
