Trimmed, now leaves upward

Hey guys, a friend of mine suggested I trim a lot of my big fan leaves off to allow light to bud sights. I only did it to one of my plants as an experiment. (6/17)

The next day (today), I found the leaves pointing upwards. When reading articles online, some say it’s a good sign, some say bad.

I’m finishing week 2 of 12/12 tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me if this is stress or are they okay with it/happy? Trying to figure out if I should do it to the rest of my plants. Thanks In advance!

I don’t think it’s cause for concern. A stress reaction. I would never suggest stripping fans until 3 weeks or so after transition (not the flip) then remove a few a day until just opened up. If you are under gucci lights you can make more go away and still meet your DLI but every leaf is there to produce sugars for the plant to turn into flower.

I agree with @Myfriendis410

I typically tuck leaves under flower sites, until they stay.
When I go into flower I pluck the fan leaves as they die. Sometimes I’m lazy and they hang around longer than they should sometimes.
Most people defoliate after flowering about 2 or 3rd week of flowering.

I do as little as possible and more to maintain good airflow than anything else. But I’m odd in that I like a green canopy all the way to harvest.

So I should’ve waited another week or so is the consensus.
Thanks everyone for the input! Do you guys think taking off as many fan leaves as I did could cause it to hermie?

No clue, in my opinion, it has more to do with genetics.

@ahuff774 I agree with all above and personally I can understand where your coming from with the wealth of should I or shouldn’t I information out there! I simply do as @Covertgrower already said and tuck and keep tucking till they stay. I would say that If it is not dead dont remove it just keep tucking. More work but at least you are not possibly stressing the plant.
