Trichomes and harvest question

I am growing 4 sour diesel autos. From sprout, they will be seven weeks old tomorrow. I have started to notice the trichomes on the buds. About how long until I need to start watching the trichomes closely?

I tried one of the cheap digital microscopes you can hook to your computer and had no luck getting it to work. All I have is a jewelers eye piece. Anyone have a recommendation on best microscope or other device to use for the trichomes?

Without photos it is hard to give advice in your specific situation. In general terms you probably have 4-5 weeks left. Keep trying the microscope you have. It took a little bit of work to get mine running properly. Trichomes should be cloudy with 10% amber.
