I’ve noted a few banks that offer trainwreck feminized seeds to include ILGM. It appears the consensus is the original genetics for this strain is unknown. My question, are these the same strain across the banks or are the completely different strains with different parents? It’s a sativa dominant strain with one bank calling it 90% sativa with another stating it’s 65% sativa.
@T-ray It’s the Difference in parents that causes the discrepancies in percentages that you’re seeing.
Breeder “A” has their version.
Breeder “B” has their interpretation of it.
This is from the MMJ Health site.
Genetics and History of Trainwreck
Trainwreck was first created in Northern California in the 1970s. It resulted from breeding Mexican and Thai sativas with Afghani indicas , with original versions of the strain believed to be 90% sativa and 10% indica.
I always liked the earlier version.
Last one I tried didn’t thrill me but was from a dispo too …… certainly not what I expected. Lol.
I’ll just stick to my homestone.
Thanks brother grower. I’m just curious. I’ve made a minimum effort to researcht he different banks and have no desire to purchase more trainwreck seeds at this point. But I have a healthy RQ Trainwreck in the tent that just entered her 6th week in flower. Got to wondering about it and saw the conflicting data sheets and narratives. Just thought I would throw this out there and see. How can two or more different banks breed a pheno using the same name with different parents? Is there no rules/guidelines they adhere too? Appreciate the response @Oldguy
I got some durban seeds from my bro a while back. They said 80% sativa.
Where ilgm said 100% sativa.
Plants are so inbred now a days who knows what we are getring.
You look at these family trees of how they came up w/a strain is crazy and mind blowing.
I have buying my seeds from ILGM for years and I noticed they update their website periodically. Few years back I bought some Blue Dream seeds that were listed as 20% THC and 2% CBD. Today it is listed as 29% THC and no CBD.
I’m glad ILGM updates their website as breeders, strains change.
Honestly @Harold , I thinks it is probably best that these seed businesses are not closely regulated. I know it varies by country and state/province, but less regulation is better for us consumers and growers.
So I’m growing a RQ cultivar of Trainwreck and she is at day 44 of flower. RQ states this is a 90% sativa and ~19% THC. I’m betting this will be a fun one to partake of. Nice terp profile of Terpinolene, Myrcene, and Pinene. I’m excited to try it when she is done. This is the main cola.
