Can’t hurt bro your harvesting anyway
I put zip ties above and below so slit wouldn’t travel but tapping would work also

Awesome- Tnx every1 for the insight. I will post some updates again here soon and keep this post in the loop about the harvest. I do not know much about stem splitting but it looks like something I’d b interested in trying on my next grow as I have never done it before.

O & 1 final question while on the subject @Countryboyjvd1971 @Hogmaster @bob31 @BondPacker @kabongster & all…if I just recently & thoroughly watered my plants, say around 48-72 hours ago OR, recent enough to where much of the soil is still damp, would I most definitely absotively need and want to wait till same time as my next scheduled watering would be or at least Until the soil is once Again completely dry before starting my flush???right?? I feel like this is a stupid question or more just wanting to confirm the fact that starting a flush when the soil is still wet from the previous watering is basically- just asking for an over-water logged, mold inviting, root rotting, plant drowning mess?

And can u stem split at the base of a big side branch or does it have to be done near the base or anywhere from the main trunk stem???

You want to split main stem just above soil tape main stem or zip tie just above soil and then a second tie one or two inches above that and split in between tape or ties will prevent splitting to much of the stem
Once split stick a pencil or something similar in split
I don’t flush so I’ll let someone else answer that for you
But I would think wait till she dries out before flushing in probably the right move

You said it all yourself [quote=“MedMan1878, post:45, topic:8601”]

Dont flush till your soil has dried out, feeling the weight of your pot when the soil is dry, and when it is soaked, and getting use to the weights of both is another good way of telling when the soil is dry enough to water again :+1:

I flushed my soil one time…at the end of the veg stage just before the transition to flowering so I may not have your answer either. I did not do a flush before harvest, I had been giving progressively smaller doses of nutes under 900 ppm.

Do you mean you watered your plant, lets say Monday and now you want or need to harvest in two weeks?

Yup pretty much. Think it was Sunday & it was a thorough watering a little less than 1 gallon and 1/2. I put the fan on high to help rid dampness faster. Hoping I will be good to start the flush sometime this wk/end and the soil will have been dry for a couple days by then.

try putting the pot on a folded towel…gravity (for those that believe in it, see “Theories…whatcha got?” for details about that) I think will bring the water down and the towel will absorb it…whatcha think?
I don’t see a down side to trying it out…I haven’t done it though, just a random thought.

Don’t see how that would work with the towel outside the pot, maybe I’m not understanding what u mean correctly?

just an idea that any water would soak into the towel rather than sit in the soil, rest the pot on the towel…again, just thinking out loud and if it doesn’t make sense or seem reasonable, no worries not a proven idea

do you have fabric pots?

Ahh I see no I’m using plastic

ignore the ramblings of an old man :older_man:

You should have drain holes in your “plastic pot”

My grow room is too quiet…I start doing things in there, after medicating, and the thoughts invade…what can I do, besides the minimum, to get what I want from my set up? Sometimes the ideas make sense…sometimes.

I had recently placed my fabric pots on towels instead of a hard surface…after I had transplanted them and watered them in, a little too heavily. I wanted to try and dry them out faster. Water evaporates from the top and sides, I wanted to give the base a chance, too.

It was an attempt to mimic outside soil…plants don’t sit on rock ledges but more absorbent soil, the towel is that soil.

yes, too high…blame ILGM genetics, lol

Yeah, it’s hard to resist doing something. But growing is boring. I decided I need another hobby to do along with “gardening” to keep me busy. Not sure yet…

My other hobby is smoking the stuff.

Ah yes- smokin that shit and growing more shit, 2 most righteous hobbies I know of- The real trick is syncing everything in tune so u ALWAYS, ALWAYS have bud & ALWAYS have a few growing. I call it- The circle of high life.

HEY GUYS- I have a question I really NEED ANSWERED ASAP! Need to take action on this within the hour!!! @Countryboyjvd1971 @Hogmaster @bob31 @BondPacker @kabongster @Paranorman @Iva @Oak @Majiktoker @Oldstoner & all else…

I may or may not have a predicament on my hands! Time is of the essence!
So- I had some issues with focusing my microscope & also may have scanned over my trichomes with it a little to quickly when making my final decision to enter the ending dark phase. I skimmed over only 2 or 3 buds & saw quite a few ambers (30-40%, some spots over half Amber) and assumed the rest of the plant was gonna b the same thing so I immediately started the final dark period. I was a little surprised she was showing that many Amber trichomes already because the morning I started the dark Period I had noticed my buds get a little larger and plumper, as in noticeable growth that had taken place just overnight! If I noticed sum buds still getting more swollen, wouldn’t that be a tell tale sign that the plant still has more growing to do, or at least a sign that it wouldn’t be as close to harvest as I thought?
Anyway- As of an hour or 2 ago my plant has been in complete darkness for 48 hours now. Curiously, I just took another look at my trichomes-( taking more time to look at all buds) & I noticed there are quite a few buds that are still not necessarily at the Amber/milky ratio that I’m personally looking for? Is 48 hours of darkness too long for the plant to be put back under the light? Or have I ended the growth stage?! Need to take action asap - Tnx to all for helping!
