Tigerlillys 2026 grow journal (Purple Haze in Fox Farms Ocean Forest)

Ok, thanks and yes, I calibrate my meter… I don’t understand it either… I beginning to dislike FF OF… Next grow for sure, NOT using it… Someone told me “somewhere”, that ProMix was a good thing to use… LOL

I’m partial to coco, kind of similar to promix that doesn’t come pre charged with nutrients. You have to provide feed at watering time. Coco promotes quick growth but requires at least daily water/feeding. Lots of coco growers like me use some type of automated system because of the amount of hand watering you have to do. @Growdoc is an advocate of promix and can elaborate.

Seems like I’ve heard the same thing!:rofl::folded_hands:

So many NUMBERS!!! Eyes glazed over so I went and tested all my stuff.
Procedure
Fill watering jug. Look at shelf with all the testers.
Dump water in the pots. Look at the testers again. Go inside and watch tv :sweat_smile::rofl::rofl::rofl::joy:
PC testing.
Check voltages, temps, clockspeeds, fps, pbo settings, overclock parameters.
Do it all over again.
Dont worry @TigerLilly , us organic folks always pick on the sith lords.

@storm, I’ve been waiting for your “so many numbers” comment. LOL…it’s all good brother. Hope you are doing well. This shit drives me loco… Though I’m not as worried as I have been in the beginning… AND I’m not using FF OF for next grow. It will be promix or organic… I’ll keep you posted.

Lmao. Was a time Tiger. Numbers and worry. I thank @MeEasy for changing my grow life.

I just feel like I have one more soil grow in my future… I feel like I want to “master” it… Then move on to organic…

Grin. Organic is soil. To be honest I bet I could build a soil VIBRANT in life and use liquid nutes. The whole organic journey, besides vendors going out of business, has been learning to build strong life and supporting it primary. Life good, plant follows. Everytime. A trick for your soil right now.
Go dig a cup of soil from root area around your oldest, healthiest tree.
Top mix half a cup into each pot.
The life begins and will be acclimated to your climate.

Yes, sorry I knew it was soil too… I do want easy, but I’m a glutton for punishment… And… I don’t have any “old” trees in my neighborhood, too new… Don’t worry, I’m going to try it your way…just give me time.. Also, not doing summer grows anymore either…too hot… Next grow will start in November.

No need to try our way. Whatever works best for YOU. With your baking you are a good fit for numbers. Just ADORE picking on the numbers game folks. Used to be 1. You will NEVER get giant organic plants. Only direct absorb nutes go there. But you will get ease and consistency. Solid flower. Good terps.

You are so right about the numbers and baking…it’s an exact science and I guess that’s why I like chasing the numbers. I wish I knew joined the forum before buying the soil I did…but I did and that’s that…I will deal, my girls have great buds and for my very first grow, I can’t believe how big the buds are…can’t imagine what they would be like if I didn’t have all these number issues… But again, very happy with my grow, can’t wait for harvest and can’t wait to cure and then smoke what I grew…

Mabey in a few years, I still enjoy the work and just messing with them. Don’t have to fight the knats either. Poke poke.:oncoming_fist:

I moved to hydro. Way low maintenance.

Someone told me you can grow organic hydro. I don’t know if thats true.

I found this and I believe My Nutrient line Canna has organic nutrients.

Yes, specialized liquid organic-based and bio-mineral nutrients exist for hydroponics, but true 100% raw organics (like thick fish emulsions or bat guano) do not work in standard water systems. Raw organics clog pumps, rot in water reservoirs, and cause severe root disease. [1, 2]

Solutions for Organic Hydroponics

  • Bio-Mineral or Digested Liquids: Manufacturers create ultra-filtered, enzymatic, or digested liquid organic nutrients (sometimes called “bioponics”) where natural matter is pre-broken down into clean, water-soluble elements. [1, 2]
  • Clean Plant-Based Lines: Specific brands formulate clean, filtered plant- and amino-acid-based extracts that feed roots without heavy residue or clogging drip emitters. [1]

Challenges of Organic Hydroponics

  • System Clogging: Thick organic residues stick to tubing, filters, and pump impellers.
  • Residue and Sludge: Organic compounds cause foaming, bad smells, and slimy biofilm buildup in warm water reservoirs.
  • Unstable pH/EC: Organic elements break down continuously, making it hard to track electrical conductivity (EC) and keep pH levels steady. [1, 2]

Best Practices

  • Use Drain-to-Waste: Avoid recirculating deep water culture (DWC) systems if using organic-leaning liquids. Use hand-watered coco coir or drain-to-waste automated setups instead. [1, 2]
  • Frequent Cleaning: Clean reservoirs and lines often to prevent root rot and blockages.
  • Add Beneficial Microbes: Supplement with specific beneficial bacteria and enzymes to help process organic compounds safely in the root zone. [1, 2]

Pro mix is a good base for making a living soil. If you add in the right ammendments you wont need to mix nutrients or ph your water.

I’ve also been told about Build-A-Soil is good too.

Yes, this is what happens when your “dream drops” wear off too early and you obsess about plant health and the farmers market… LOL…way to early!
