I’m thinking about buying an hlg 350r led light. I grow in a closet that’s approximately 5’x2.5’x8’ tall. I would never grow more that two plants at once, and typically only one. Not super familiar with led’s. Would this be a good light for me?

It’s an excellent light. I have 2 of them and find myself extremely happy. That’s a big space if you’re going to grow them out fully. But it will be able to flower 2 plants well.

@Dexterado Question: I love your closet size, are your in-closet walls white or reflective lined?

It’s more about lateral growth than vertical. Wider canopy requires more lighting due to intensity loss at the edges.

Reflective material or less light absorption could be beneficial.
excellent light! Might consider reducing the footprint of your closet with a mylar or white painted cardboard or piece of drywall. That way you can keep the light confined to a smaller space and still giving ample light to 2 plants. i have a 350r in a 2x4 and it’s great!!
If you cut that foot off you’d still have plenty of room for 2 and a little storage space.
I think what @Underthestairs was getting at is some horizontal training instead of going for height.
Growing horizontally by bending the plant over by various means exposes more of the plant to good light unlike a tall plant who’s upper buds absorb all the good intense light before it reaches any bottom buds. You may get a few great buds up top but the lower half of the plant will get thinner and larfy buds not really great for smoking - if that’s you aim.
With LST you can yield as much with a moderately trained plant that’s 2ft tall than one that 4. Maybe even more if you spend a little more time with it.
tall plants yield a lot of stems and stalks and I’m trying to grow bud!

Thank you. Yes, I always lst my plants. This one is 30”, and is on day 40 of 12/12. I may get that light. I can’t really complain about the cmh 315, but it gets pretty hot, not dimmable, and runs my utility bill up about $20 a month,

It KILLS in a 2x4!
It would be considered over-powered for that space actually. But it does great in mine!!
It’ll cover that footprint from corner to corner with no problems.

I’ve got 2 of them, both refurb. Had an issue with one, they sent the part out next day, 2 tries didn’t fix it. So they sent me a whole new light (not refurb). I’ve loved their customer service
