The Chocolope Twins, co-starring Big Bud and Amnesia Haze

Know what? That really helped. I made a dome with some plastic wrap and a rubber band last night and the little guy does look better today. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that myself… DUH! Sometimes the most obvious things are missed. I think you saved her life.

Day 11:
Twin #2 is still alive and trying soooo hard to grow. It appears that the first leaves are damaged or deformed. I think if it can just get past this early stage then it should be okay… or dead. Everyone else looks great.

So I’m forcing myself out of my deep election depression to continue my grow journal. My plants are the only thing keeping me from slitting my wrists right now.

Day 15:
Feeding day. In one gallon of water add:
Big Bloom: 1 TBL. (of 2 TBl.)
Boomerang: 1/2 tsp. (of 1 tsp.)
Wholly Mackerel: 1/4 tsp. (of 1/2 tsp.)
*Nutrients at half strength.

Transplanted all but the #2 twin in 2 gallon pots.
Chocolope twin #2 looks pretty much the same, so I’m not holding out much hope for it. It’s not dead, but it’s just not growing either, oh well. On the bright side, the other three plants are all doing very well.

Big Bud and Amnesia each have five-fingered leaves. Chocolope has three, still a few days behind her sisters.

Hi boys and girls,
Well, it’s been a busy month, and frankly, my lazy ass that has prevented me from updating my grow journal. So I’m going to get caught up today and show you all the excruciating drama that comes with watching plants grow… you can cut the excitement with a knife.

First, there’s good news and there’s bad news. The bad news is that the smaller Chocolope twin is no more. Yeah, she bit the dust. Rest in peace little soldier.

The good news is that everyone else is doing great, so let’s proceed…

Day 22:
I was seeing some small hints of nutrient burn on a few leaves of the Big Bud plant, so I decided to do a flush using Sledgehammer (2 tsps. per gallon) on Friday night before feeding. So feeding day is now on Saturdays to accommodate this. It was a good move because the damage healed nicely and there are no more signs of burn. The EC is back down to where it should be.

Aren’t my babies beautiful?

They’re doing so well! The only problem I’m having is keeping the humidity above 22%! I didn’t have this problem in the summer, but the dry heating in my NYC building really sucks for my plants and my skin. I keep the trays full of water (the plants don’t sit in the water), and I spray the room constantly, but it doesn’t last long. I’m reluctant to use a humidifier because they breed mold and mildew even when they’re clean, but I might need to.

Pot porn…

Anyway, the girls don’t seem to be affected… yet. I have an automatic mister that is used for lizards - another hobby - so I’m considering that option.

As you can probably see, the fan leaves have become enormous which is casting a lot of shadow. I don’t prune them, but instead I like to pull those giant leaves down and pull the smaller new growth up out of its shadow which holds the big fans down. Did that make sense? Here’s before and after pictures.

And after…

I don’t know if there’s a term for this technique, but it seems to work and it’s easy to do.
Pornocopia… with pot.

Thank you!!!

This grow is really going great and much easier than the last one. The one thing that’s odd is the sativas and the indica look very much alike; they all have fairly wide leaves, so they all look like indicas. They do have different scents, so that’s something. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see at harvest time.

Day 34: All three girls got a thorough watering today, and they were quite thirsty especially the Big Bud. I think it might be time for their last transplant into 5 gallon pots – I’ll check the roots tomorrow.

So, it seems I’m having a bit of a space problem. The girls have grown so well, that they’re ready to burst through the grow tent! I suppose it’s a good problem to have, but I really need to come up with a plan. There’s still nine weeks to go!

Today’s porn…

Lol! The leaves on my Big Bud are so big and heavy that they cascade down like a weeping willow! You can’t even see the leaves that I tucked under – she’s out of control… in a good way.

Even my Amnesia Haze is hitting the walls of the tent.

Chocolope is all caught up in size. I guess she’s over her twin sister’s death.

Day 35:
Everyone needed more water today, a sure sign that the girls are becoming root bound in their 2 gallon pots. I’m especially worried about Big Bud. Unfortunately, I ran out of soil, so today I ordered more FoxFarm Ocean Forest 'cause I’m not gonna stick my babies in just any old dirt. No, they strictly instructed me to get them the most expensive luxury soil money can buy… they’re such prima donnas! I think I spend more time and money on my canna-babies than on my human babies. Does that make me a bad mom? Oh well, they’re worth every penny. I spoil all my babies!

So they’ll have to wait a few days for transplanting, and I’ll just have to water them a bit more till then. I also raised the LED lamp to 25" above the canopy, giving the girls an extra 5" of growth space.

Baby Pictures!

Aren’t they cute? They get their good looks from their mom.

Wow, four human kids?! I only have two humans. LOL! If I had four, I’d be taking on more plants too! Congratulations on your new babies – those clones grow up so fast, don’t they? Before you know it, they’re off to college to be smoked. Good luck!

*All nutrients at half strength.

In one gallon of water add:

  1. Big Bloom: 1 1/2 tsp. (of 3 tsp.)
  2. Grow Big: 1 1/2 tsp. (of 3 tsp.)
  3. Boomerang: 1/2 tsp. (of 1 tsp.)
  4. Kangaroots: 1/4 tsp. (of 1/2 tsp.)
  5. Wholly Mackerel: 1/4 tsp. (of 1/2 tsp.)
  6. Kelp Me Kelp You: 1/8 tsp. (of 1/4 tsp.)
  7. Open Sesame: 1/8 tsp. (of 1/4 tsp.)
    *My Dose (Recommended Dose)
    EC (range=2.5-3.0)
    PPM (range=1750-2100)
PH (range=6.3-6.8) – 6.5 with 1 pipette of PH Up.

Flowers Kiss (foliar spray): 1 tsp. (of 2 tsp.) in one gallon of water, and spray once or twice a day.

So yesterday I managed to scrape together enough soil to transplant Big Bud, and boy did she need it. No wonder she was so thirsty… my poor baby. Anyway, she is now in her final 5 gallon pot, and I swear she’s grown about 4" since!

OMG! I have a set of twins too! Both girls, fraternal, though everyone says they look alike. They actually just started college in September, but they’re still hanging around here. LOL!
