TGR’s High Elevation Grow Journey

Hopefully this makes it in the right place. What’s up everyone, I’m TGR and I’m growing out of the Southern Sierra Nevada mountains in California. Heading into week 5 of flower this Friday. This is 1988 California Homegrown. :victory_hand:

I’m currently running Coco Loco for my medium with Greenleaf Nutrients. Lights are powered by Phlizon and I’m currently using a 420 watt bar.

The coco loco is great and my preferred bag medium. You mentioned the strain as 1988 Cali Homegrown, what’s the back story? I’m an old school head and mainly grow Landrace strains :love_you_gesture:

Beans came from a friends dad who passed and had them stored. All I know is they we labeled ‘88 CHG and had about an 80% failure rate which I guess is consistent with something stored for 37 years

They are probably the heaviest grape smelling strain I’ve come across.

That’s awesome to hear and good to see you found some viable seeds. 37 years is long time, I’ve grown a few remnants of the Skunkman’s skunk #1. I crossed some F2 Columbian Gold and Kona Golds with an F2 Panama Red and these definitely bring back that old school buzz. With that Grape terpene profile I would look into reversing one of your selected females for some feminized seeds to keep that strain going. Assuming these are regular seeds, you could also cross a male with a female for some newer more viable seeds :love_you_gesture:

I still have 3 beans left and I was able to take two cuttings so preservation is the goal.

Looking good!

I actually enjoy growing at high elevation (7,100 feet for me) as low humidity and lack of mold/mildew helps for a clean grow. Plants don’t seem to care.

Beautiful work @TheGoldenRoad

I hope you have a wonderful day!

I agree with that. I’m at 3,000 ft and the humidity stays pegged around 45-50% year round. Not dealing with mold is a very nice bonus. :victory_hand:

I have this gal under a 420 watt light on full. The buds are really starting to put on weight. I’ve been watering them for two days and skipping every third which has allowed for a nice dryback.
