Tangie Photos in Coco w/ Jacks 321 in 2x4 Tent

This is the Grow Journal for my 6th grow. Since my tent is only 28" x 55" x 80", I plan to run two plants. I have ILGM Tangie photoperiod seeds. I dropped 4 seeds into water on Friday, 5/3/2024. After 20 hours, all sunk. Moved to wet paper towel in a ziplock bag on top of kitchen fridge (a warm spot). After another 28 hours, one had a 1/2” tail, one was open, other two no visible signs of life. So I moved each gently into rapid rooter cubes. And the cubes into solo cups of 70/30 coco/perlite.

Today is Wednesday, 5/8/2024. T1 is 2” tall and shows both the cotyledon leaves and tiny first pair of true leaves. T2 is 1.5”.

Orange barb is the closest thing to tangie I’ve smoked. Orange barb is tangie x barbara bud. I have 5 seeds. I’ve grown 2 of them and they were both polyploids. I expect the remaining 3 will be polyploids as well.

I was hitting on a tangie derivative cart last year to treat post-surgery nausea and it worked fantastic. Nearly instant relief. I’ve never grown a tangie plant though.

My previous grows were White Widow Auto, Jack Herer, Special Kush, and Critical. My best friend liked the Jack Herer best, so I wanted another Sativa or mostly Sativa hybrid. And Tangie was one of the 10+10 promotions that ILGM is constantly sending me emails about.

I grow durban poison for a 100% sativa strain. It’s one of the few remaining landrace strains.

I read good things about Durban Poison but I’m put off by un-pretty strain names like that and Green Crack, AK-47, ATF, etc.

Congrats on the sprouts Growmie :love_you_gesture:

Finding yesteryears Landrace strains is like hitting the lottery Growmie. They’re a fraction of the pure gold from back in the day :love_you_gesture:

Day 5 above ground. Two Tangie sprouts look good. 3.5” and 2.5” across. Two seeds failed. I’ll cut open those rapid rooter plugs soon for post-Mortem.

Time to check my meters. Ugh. In between grows, black mold grew in the electrode storage solution in the cap of the Apera Ph20 meter. Clean with paper towel. Rinse in distilled. One-step calibration in the Ph 7.0 solution. New storage solution. Happily, the cheap Vivosun EC meter needs no care.

Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Day 7 above ground. T3 came up late. So now I have a spare seedling. T1 is showing a couple root hairs out of the bottom of the solo cup.

Raising the grow tent off the floor. I plan to continue drain to waste for this grow, but I’m tired of using a shop vac to remove the runoff every day. So I built a 7” tall platform from 3/8 plywood and 2x4s.

The runoff goes through two holes in the tent floor and into the two bins. If I skip a day or two emptying the bins, the runoff won’t add humidity to the tent.

On previous grows, I had a pretty random ad hoc assembly of cords and timers. Today I made a new control board.

From top to bottom: light drivers, light brightness control, exhaust fan controller, light timer, fertigation pump timer, reservoir stir timer.

Sunday May 26, 2024 Day 19. Plants look fine. T1 and T2 are same size: 9” tall and 13” across. Fertigating once daily. Ph 5.9 EC 1170 PPM 585. Generous runoff EC 1340 PPM 670. So I think I can start feeding a little heavier.

I’m still hand watering with this grow but I’ll set up the automatic watering soon. Today I made a lid for the reservoir from scrap 1/4” plywood. It has a notch for the pump wire, stirrer wire and hose.

The reservoir is a Suncast 23 gallon trash can. I won’t be able to fill more than about halfway. Any higher would siphon out.

My Spider Farmer tent has a little spider. I did not kill him or evict him. But neither will I give him a name.
