Good looking buds. Nice colors too. You are close. I think a week or so is about right. Do you have a loupe to check the trichomes with. I can’t hold one steady long enough to get a good look. I have to snip a calyx with pistils off so I can get a close look.
I really prefer my USB scope. I cut this one even though this photo had quite a bit of clear. Other parts of the bud had more amber.

I have a handheld microscope and I use my phone camera to take a pic through it. Its night time for my plant but tomorrow I will use your idea and cut a small piece off and then I can get a clearer picture. Ill post it tomorrow.

This is my first time growing so Im not too sure what type of trichomes Ill prefer, but I mostly smoke at night time and just relax after, listen to music or watch a TV show.

I don’t partake at all. I grow for my wife. I grow strains that have sativa for daytime enjoyment and indica dominant for evening. I will let the indica go a little further and have more amber. I just started a couple100% indica Purple Kush

A tripod works great

Nice photos. Not seeing any amber. Mostly clear with some cloudy. Are your eyes telling you the same thing?
I just took this of an AK47.

It is starting to foxtail, white pistils in foreground, mostly cloudy with clear. I will give it 4-5 more days then cut it next week.

Im seeing a little big of amber in here.

The top buds have a bit more but still quite a bit of clear

Heres another one from a top bud, its coming out more clear in the photo. More cloudy from what I see looking through the microscope.

It comes back to what are you looking for. I am not familiar with the strain and by the description THC and CBD are equal to each other. I assume you were looking for something with higher levels of CBD. Are harvest criteria the same or similar to cannabis grown for its THC? Not having grown it I have had no reason to look.
Hey @arrow can you tell me if the harvest criteria when looking at trichomes of high CBD strains is the same as regular THC strains? Cloudy with amber. The more amber the more couch lock (to put it simply). Appreciate the help. Hopefully this will catch up to you Saturday. Thanks

You caught me on Saturday…:+1:

I see it as a measure of how much THC you want…if you let a high THC plant go beyond say 20 to 30% amber you will get couch lock because THC will turn into CBN…

A low THC plant does not have a lot of THC to start with…so the longer you leave it, the less THC it will have, but herein lies a catch…not all CBD’s are equal, as not all THC’s are equal to each other…

The answer is not a simple one…it thus boils down to individual preference and taste. If you want the least THC…let the plant go 50% amber, but know that CBN is not everybody’s cup of tea.

Strain research and experimentation is your ultimate answer… I would recommend to stagger the harvest and do proper documentation…lots of people would be interested in your findings…Note: as per always these :point_up_2: are my opinions…:sunglasses::v:

Thanks @Arrow for all that great information, Im not looking for super strong THC and Im looking for more of the CBD effects. Thats why I chose a 1:1 ratio strain. I would have picked a higher CBD but I had a hard time finding one from a reputable site. Do you know based on the trichomes when the highest levels of CBD are? Also are CBD and CBN effects the same or similar? I guess if they are I’ll let them go 20-30% amber.

You must remember that CBD neutralizes the effects of THC. That’s why people greening out are advised to smoke a very high CBD strain, to bring them down slow. Like I said above not all CBD’s are the same…thus their effects are also different…CBN is the couch lock/sleepy one…I presume you are looking out of a medicinal point of view…I harvest my CBD plants the same as my THC plants. (20-30%)…that’s the way I like them…its not to say the next person likes them that way…

I place this :point_up_2: just to point you in a direction…I urge you to do some research and then experiment… Its all part of the fun… :sunglasses::v:

Im harvesting my plant tomorrow! I think I’m going to try the bud wash. This will be my first time so any tips or pointers are appreciated. Should I trim the leaves off the buds before washing and drying or trim after they dry?

Ok so I chopped my plant today. I trimmed off all the big leaves but left the small sugar leaves. I read somewhere if you have low humidity to leave them on so your buds dont dry too fast. I did a bud wash too and dried one little bud out in the oven for a test smoke. All I can say and its so nice to smoke what I grew myself!

Yes that is how I have been preparing them to dry too.

After fans and some of the larger sugar leaves trimmed. Ready for the box

These are single colas AK47. Very easy clean up.
I will more than likely take off some more sugar leaves before they go into jars.

What is the RH and temps. in the tent? I have not really been able to use the tent to dry. Because I have multiple plants, they never mature at the same time. So I I use boxes.
Very nice, well done and congratulations.

Thanks! Your buds look real nice. The RH is 48 and temp is 65°F. Are those good for drying?

Okay, today I just ordered new seeds! 5 Strawberry CBD and 5 Harlequin x Bubba Kush. These will be started inside and then moved outside for the summer!
