Switching to coco

FRP panels work great, even better if you can get the kind with a finished smooth side. They are way easier to clean. I’d still be using them if I didn’t have to move stuff around a bunch. If your going to curb them make use to use silicone to seal seams. Most caulk wont work.

Wow. That’s crazy I can only get pvc 4x8 here without having to order it.

Time to look.

Edit
Found it .060” is really thin. Make sure you consider attachment points and support frame.

If you have a kitchen supply around they will usually sell them if the hardware store doesn’t.

I’ve been looking into that as well, found a mold resistant silicone then read that all silicone was mold resistant. I still have time I’ve got a few weeks till the tent will be open. I may be close but I’m not dumb enough to try and slide a table under the plants that are in there. Lol

For my set up a made a taco with one and hung it from the bottom of my table at an angle so my table top was level. The the water would flow through my table, down the frp panel. and into a tote on one side. That eats up a little vertical space depending on what size tote you have. Minimum grade for drainage is 2% or about 1/4" of slop per foot. If your using textured Panels then you might want to go 3% or about 3/8" of slope per foot.

I was thinking cut particle board to size attach legs or casters slopped to the corner. Then glue the panel on top and screw in the sides. Then just a drain to a condensate pump

that would probably work for 2 plants. I have to have a fame since it has to hold up a lot of wet dirt and crooked plants drive me crazy as well as being a pain to water. I think in the end I’m going to build 18" x 18" individual tables with flexible vinyl tube whips to connect to a central drain line. I think that will allow maximum flexibility in my layout. I went from one to two tables and I love it. That must mean 6 would be better right.

That was my original idea I looked in to all kinds of fancy manifolds and everything. I wasn’t sure if all the water would drain out and pinching lines and what not. That’s how I ended up thinking I just need a table so they can all move around wherever they need to be. I think a 40" or 41" square should give me enough room.

And more is always better right lol

In a tent I would make it as close to the size of the tent as you can and still be able to get to all the important stuff easily. I would love to to put a false floor in the grow room and drop a drain in so I have all the freedom, but I have more important investments to make. I’ll probably build a new room on a finished concrete floor with a drain before that happens. I’ve been on a quest for the perfect grow table for a few years now. I can’t even count the number of different ones I’ve built. I’m working on incorporating a removable support system to the design so it can also serve as a scrog frame all in one contained unit with castors so I can wheel them around the room at will for cleaning and adjustment.

Morning everybody

Thinking of doing a coco run to try it out and i have a question.

Do yall think i would be fine doing 2waterings a day. 1 in the am around 8:30/9 and the 2nd same time just at night. Is 12ish hours in-between waterings to spaced out? Or is that all going to depend on tge plant?

Thanks  :v:

@Highgrow You need to keep coco at 90-100% saturation so watering is dictated by the plant and it’s stage of growth. Monitoring the runoff ph and ppm will let you know if you you need to increase the amount of water given or the amount of waterings in a day.

Figured as much just wasnt sure. Hmm so many decisions. Thank you :v:

Pot size, temp, RH Perlite ratio will all affect optimum watering frequency. Bigger pot and less perlite would mean that you can water less often. I’m not sure what the exact weights are since I was usually going the other way. Smaller pots and more perlite

Candy Kush is just about done. The wife says it smells like grape fun dip, I can’t wait to try it out. I’m more excited that I get my tent back soon, dieing to start some new seeds lol

Amazing work @JPhoenixX looks amazing! Happy this switch to coco worked out so well for you

@Highgrow I did 3 grows handwatering twice a day, and got pH issues in all 3 of them. As @JPhoenixX said, coco needs to stay 90% moist. By mid flower, two waterings weren’t enough for me, the top of the coco gets light brown and dry, and issues start following after that.

As @Gl1tch said, there are a lot of variables so your results may vary. I’m in 3 Gal Air Pots with 30% perlite. Bigger pots with less perlite might tide you over between waterings, but I think coco needs an auto watering system for the best results.

Thats what the plan was to be if i was able to do a run or 2 without it to see if coco was gona work for me. Still many decisons to make i appreciate yalls advice :call_me_hand::v:

You can give it a shot and go for bigger pots with less perlite as a trial run and to get a feel for coco. The plants will grow, you just might face issues, especially come mid flower when the plants start drinking a lot. You will be happy with the impressive speed of growth in coco. Your temps and humidity might give you better results than I got (it gets really hot here), but ideally I’d keep an auto watering system as your plan for the future.

I was nervous about the watering when I switched. I like playing with numbers so turns out I enjoyed chasing ph and ppms lol
One thing to keep in mind is coco drains so much better than soil, and you may water more often but it’s less water at a time. During veg watering 3 times a day was easy for me the timing was harder when I flipped the lights.
I would give it a shot you’ll have time to figure out how things go during veg and can set up an auto watering system by flower time
