Hi yall I’m new to growing and hope to get to know people and learn more and more! For now here’s my grow. Afghan on the left Hindu Kush on the right. I’ve had multiple problems with this grow and I’m just happy to be this far with them. My question is that my light has a dimmer. I was told by the guy at the store to keep it on 40/50 percent for veg and no more than 80 for flower. I plan on switching the light cycle next week, should I turn the light up gradually over multiple days or immediately to 80 as soon as I switch the cycle? The light is a HLG 600R. Thanks so much y’all
Welcome to the forum. This thread should be helpful.
Welcome to the forum!!! Your plants look fantastic. The DLI meter will help!!! Sometimes it’s just a growers intuition. Turning up the intensity in increments is not a bad thing. Just keep a good eye on the ladies they’ll tell you what they like and dislike usually within a few hours. Best of luck fellow cultivator.
Welcome to the community , your plants look great keep up the good work. you have received good advice.
Welcome aboard. Keep doing what you are doing. Look great. You have the proper light. The vendor was correct. You probably will never need that light more than 90% ever.
Thank you so much guys! Supper appreciated!
Welcome to the neighborhood. Those are some beautiful ladies. You are doing a great job. Your light is awesome. Happy Growing
Welcome, and hope the grow ends heavy!!! We have the same light!
I keep my 600rspec about 28" above the canopy, and 45/50 dli (800-1000ppfd) right when I switch to 12hrs.
There’s a phone app that allows you to use your front camera to measure the needed light for where they are at in the grow stage(s)… It will change over the course of the flower cycle, so find the app= photone
Welcome aboard! You’ll find a ton of knowledge here.
Yes!
Like mentioned above, your plants will let you know if it’s too much. The leaves will tend to loose the green look near the top of the plant and take on a shade of yellow if too much.
Your plants look great!
Good luck and keep’em growin!
@Jspeach welcome to the Class!!
Well said
Thank you very much @DEEPDIVERDAVE I appreciate you agree.
To complicate things ; the height and intensity is unique to your tent grow.
The 600rspec in my 4x4tent has the driver relocated outside the tent… The heat generated prior to that was capable of 100ish at the canopy!
Also, I go from 45dli at begining flower(infinity fans holding temps at 79°) and wane back to 35(fans holding 72°) at last two weeks. This is why 6-7clicks on the light is not just a plug and play answer.
So, the light is great, but heat is gonna rage without problem solving on some automatic exhaust fans.
Hope you have a great weekend
I installed an exhaust fan. It’s kind of too much. My set up is in a walk in closet in my basement. I’m in NW Ohio it stays cool. Have a digital heater in there as well set to 85. I was hoping to be able to use this whole space for growing but no. I put up the shower curtains a couple weeks ago. Helps a lot! I plan on coming up with a better set up for my next grow or maybe buy a tent. I’ve been looking at 5x5 tents. Too big?
5x5 is perfect… You’ll be able to get more canopy yeild if you scrog, and dissipate heat better from the light… Likely a nonfactor for you in cinder block basement ohio winters… Sounds like you got a win win situation …try desperately for Humidity below 60% throughout flower
Dem girls gonna stank without tent
Saving Grace intensity requires good welder googles
What is the room temp? Mine cook at 85.
Unless the Maui Waui seedling likes it hot, I love 73 temps.
tent contained exhausting charcole filter keeps heet in lung room and smell minimized.
Also advantage for controlled environment , better.
Welcome and enjoy growing, we here do, too.
I exhaust my 4x4x6.5 into the second.
AC-I Cloudline Controllers utilized for air movement.
Second tent exhausts into active filter (large)…
First tent has secondary exhaust control capability for direct into attic.
