have the seedlings on 18 / 6 . do i need to adjust light to outdoor daylight time ?
Sounds like fun! I’m doing the same, I’m hoping to grow some real monsters with the couple months of additional indoor veg time.
You need to keep them above 14 hrs or so to prevent them going to flower. You don’t need to have you light schedule match the outdoor. I set my lights to come on at night.
A bigger concern is “hardening” them off. They won’t be used to the UV and they may get a little sunburn if you put them under full sun right away. Like your veggie garden seedlings you’ll want to get them used to it gradually over like a week or so.
Thanks, just wanted to be sure ,haven’t done this in about 35 yrs.
Dont put them outside too early it can screw things up if they start flowering when they should be in veg. If you’re in the northern hemisphere you want to wait until sometime in June to put them outside.
Thanks , but that is too late in the season and they will be too large .
they are tiny now just starting second set of leafs I will put them on a different timer
If you put them outside too early they will go into flower then theyll go back into veg then back into flower. It screws the pant up transitioning back and forth like that. It will seriously affect your yield Anytime before mid may and this is gonna happen. When there’s not enough daylight the plant will start flowering.
These threads need to come together:
If you put them out now they will start flowering within a week or two. Then they’ll stop growing because theres not enough daylight for it to grow much. If they make it to June when most of us put our plants outside yours will be transitioning back into veg having not grown much the transition can take a month or more while not growing much. By the time it get back into full veg mode it will start to flower again because of less daylight hours again. If it was me i would try to find a way to keep them inside under lights and dont put them outside at all. You could finish them by June and then start some outside.
Wow for a minute there I thought it was the same thread. Definitely need to combine them.
