If I can build light, just about anyone can. I’m glad I did
It depends on what you were looking to do. You can usually build cheaper than a qb kit, or quite a bit cheaper than a ready to hang fixture from hlg. Bigger the light the more you’ll usually save.
Very happy I listened and built a qb
I’m gonna go with the 48x48x80 or 60x60x80 tent
I’m about to do a photo boost LED strip build. I bet 2 of the 2x4 fixtures would rock that 48" tent
The kits on Amazon?
Well technically yeah they DO have good lighting kits on Amazon but your gonna overpay alot for something you could have built in a couple hours. Just gotta ask yourself if sourcing all the parts is worth it. And to be completely honest dbrn would give you links to everything so technically you wouldn’t have to do anything but break out the wallet lol
4x4 usually runs around $600 give or take to DIY. Same space is about $700 if you order qb kits and assemble yourself, or closer to $800 if you order the kits assembled for you.
It took me a hr to source all parts and a hour to put together and I had no idea what to do
My point exactly
Do you have the links? I’d like to look into it.
Look around @ HLG(Horticulture Lighting Group), Growers Lights, and find a light you like for the area you choose. Then we can source the DIY parts to build something similar.
You kinda need a pretty good idea on space because you would use different components. But ya hlg, Pacific light concepts has a really cool reference build you can follow, led gardener has some nice build ideas too.
Looks like to get anything that covers a 3x3 or 4x4 flower area is gonna be around 600$
I did my 3x3 in quantum boards and I have wall to wall light for 250.00
I’m building a light now for another 3x3 and it’s in the 500 to 600 dollar range to DIY but it’s a bit higher end then my light now.
How many plants in the 3x3?
It’s more of a question on how much bud you could get from the light to many plants get to crowded
Well that’s a trick question lol depends on how you wanna grow. One or two big plants or 3 or 4 small to medium size plants. Technically a plant needs a 2x2 area. But Mattybear is running 5 in a 3x3 right now. He just uses smaller pots and runs a shorter veg period.
Kinda like a small scale SOG grow, orrrr you could fill that whole area with one plant, just have to veg for a while and SCROG it
