@DebbieM I wouldn’t flip to flower until you got your ph meter. Once your ph is good then you can figure out where your are on nutrients
@CalamityJane What would be ideal is if I could do the typing on the computer and post the pics to the text I’ve typed. BTW Thanks.
@Gardenguy That’s one of the reasons I’m waiting, I need Clara to catch up a little more to Sprout. I have to go clean Sprout out, she looks like the jungle, Not looking forward to that. I think I’m going to kill them by doing that, she’s so full I can’t even see the bottom. Thanks for the advice, I know I need some and have no one to ask.
I wish I did so I could give them some clones, which I will have to discard if I don’t get another tent.
Thanks
DebbieM
Don’t trim too much all at once u need to do a little wait a couple days then do some more that way u don’t shock it to death
How how old are your plants currently? I see Covertgrower is here. He has helped me many times and is an awesome and knowledgeable grower so you’re in good hands. Take your time and go with the flow. If you get flustered just take a step back and breathe because these plants can take abuse and still recover wonderfully with love.
@DebbieM
After you get your meters, ph your nutrients going in and check run off for the ph. Adjust ph accordingly.
Keeping the correct amount of moisture in the medium will help maintain proper ph.
Fox farms has a feeding schedule, but as someone else already mentioned, use 1/2 strength. They can burn.
We’ll get you fixed up and growing on schedule.
@Covertgrower knows his shit Debb he’s helped me out when I first was having issues. If u want to add him to ur conversation or ur posting just put @ in front of his name and it will alert him that u have.
@Covertgrower @Jaydawg6528 @Jake3 @Gardenguy Hey I just got a box pop up show me how to do this, how cool, right?
So this is a long summary.
Sprout (Kusai) sprouted middle of November in bad soil with bad light I got her in sorry shape. My daughter bought me a Mars HYDRO 2.5x2.5 tent kit with everything TS1000 light.
Boy did she like that as well as being transplanted in organic soil (i guess there’s nutrients in there).
She really took off and so by watching YouTube I LST her. I already pinch her top off. Like WOW! I had to sew loops on the side of the pot to keep the branches out of the middle.
Then around 2-15 I got Clara (2 week old Gelato) and she’s real short. After 10 days she outgrew that pot into a fabric 3 gallon. Last week finally her branches long enough to stake down (I used paper clips) and she’s doing very nice.
Last Sunday I fed with FF 1 and 2 and stupid full strength, I thought I knew better. Then she got burnt and curly. Thursday was plain spring water at least it’s not getting worse.
3 days ago I Topped all Sprouts tall branches but I can’t even tell now. Next few days I have to start cleaning her up some she’s a MONSTER. My Pics are scattered in the post above, light green is Sprout and Dark green is Clara.
I’m on computer so I’ll go take some pics and post those from the phone if I can find this again. Sucks growing old
And Thanks to all of you
@Covertgrower @Jaydawg6528 @Jake3 @Gardenguy So do you think I should feed them again when I’m planning on flipping them to flower within 2 weeks? There’s conflicting opinions that I’ve read here
What a thoughtful daughter! You’ll have fun in there
Are u adding cal mag with ur nutes. As far as feeding just go by FF feeding schedule but only about half strength at first and see how they like it
@Underthestairs I know, right? She started smoking again during Covid but it surprised the HELL out of me. Now I want another one, I can have 5 flowering in this state. Don’t think I could take care of more than 3, tho. I have an excellent chance at getting that second tent, she’s a really good lady.
And you are so right about the fun. Damn, I really love it, thanks for the tip about the moderators
I would feed every time you water. They definitely are starving a bit. But nitrogen could be locked out of the ph is off, but we’re waiting on the ph meter.
@DebbieM the amount of help and support… so good. If you get a tent to flower ask these guys first, get the best light you can afford!! I wish I had right from the start.
Hi DebbieM, if you have rich soil its still nice to get some promix hp… if you can get it or an equivalent peat based medium, mix that 60/40 soil peat or even 50/50. The reason is you want whatever you cannabis isbin to drain really well and provide lots of gas space for the roots. Believe me, cannabis is not a fan of hard packed material, it also hates standing water. You can get usually find seaweed and kelp extracts to be added every other feeding or as a feeding alone, at most plant or hydro stores… great stuff really it is. And magnesium and calcium are both minerals that are easily washed out of mediums and even organic soils… you can buy calcium and magnesium separately for horticultural use or you can by a cal mag solution. The solution typically is packed with 1 percent by volume in N so keep that in mind. Cal mag is normally mixed first in water before other nutrients are added. Make sure to check your EC and ph after you mix your solution and before you feed your plants… if you need to adjust ph… thats the time… just prior to feeding. Glad you salvaged your plants!
@Covertgrower @Underthestairs @Cannabian I watered Wednesday, was going to water again Saturday if they are dry enough, Monday if they aren’t. The ph meter comes Monday. The TDS won’t be here til Wedsnesday. So should I just wait with this water or water it and wait til it’s dry after that watering? And food in that water? If I water before should I save the runoff to test when I get the meter? I tell you this makes me feel intelligence challenged (stupid).
As far as the new tent I will happily take whatever she brings me as I am a poor old lady on SS disability and will make due with whatever I have. I could ask for a specific tent or light but I’d need to know what it’s called. and I am limited in space to my closet which has racks that cut down the space, that’s why my tent is 2.5x2.5. It just fits and there is room for another one. If she doesn’t get it this tent will be for both and I’ll have to wait for a long time for 2nd harvest. I don’t want to do that cuz I smoke all day every day.
As far as the soil Sprout is in organic potting soil, Clara is in Just Natural organic it’s got worm castings peat moss sphagnum and a bunch of other stuff and is fluffy. I can mix some of that in with Sprout if you think it’s a good idea
You should be ok to use whatever fertilizer you have, just use light vegitative mix. So for example if the bottle says 5ml per 100 liters maybe go 3ml per 100 liters or whatever measurement scale they use. Always best to underfeed if you cant test. When you get your tools we can talk you through what they do, and what it means, as well as how to use them to do certain things.
Keep in mind organics is a different animal, because things like worm castings break down with each watering… they therefor contribute for a long time and for the most part are not detected by an EC pen well enough to be meaningful. Supersoils and many soils like Miracle Grow can be tested and the EC will be very high, but its meaningless because you can do very little to alter it. Primarily the EC pen is most useful to determine the amount of conductive salts that are present in a solution. Example… magnesium … this element is conductive therefore the pen will detect that it is contributing to the total amount of whatever else you have added to the water. Whereas, chlorine is non conductive… therfore the pen will not detect it in your solution even though it may be loaded in it. So we can explain all of this as you progress and get used to basic operation. Did you get calibration fluid for your ec pen?
@Cannabian since I burned her the water before last I was really worried that if I did it again it would hurt her. Did you see the pic w/burned curly leaves? Only a little on some of the tips but I’m new at this (except in 1975 threw a dozen Columbian Redbud seeds in a tire which grew until stolen) and every little thing is freaking me out and I don’t know anyone who grows to ask. I have the FF trio as far as food/fertilizer. Do I really need cal mag or can I use some Epsom salts and eggshells?
Why are they colored so different? Sprout is so light green and Clara is so dark, is there any reasoning behind that?
