Ok, I’ve started my grow journal on the forum site, as seems to be the preference of y"all.
The babies have sprouted and have grown a bit in a few days. They were soaked and planted with tails on 1/3/2022. All 4 of the autos have sprouted.
Before only 3 of the 4 sprouted.
I’m going with Autos this time because I’m up against time. The garage will be too hot to control the temp in a few months.
These babies are happier than the others. I can tell because the secondary leaves are already bigger than my previous attempts were.
This is my 3rd grow attempt but now I have the tent and the lights, thanks to all of your help!
It’s still cold here so during the lights out period, I cover the babies with cups to keep them warm in the tent and they seem to really like that. I have then on a 16 hour light cycle and 8 hours of complete darkness. Lights on starting at 9pm through the night and lights out at 1pm during the day.
I hang a wet washcloth to raise the humidity. I can see I need to do that almost daily. The living soil is still cooking.
So far so good.

Right on and good luck I’ve noticed a lot of people having better luck in colder areas going to a 6on/2off light schedule for their autos that way the lights are only off for two hours at a time
I’ve filled a cup with water and stuffed the washcloth into the cup with just a bit hanging out. The moisture wicks up the cloth and out the bit hanging out - I still have to refill it once every day or two, but it may be easier if you can get something like one of those big 44-64oz styrofoam soda cups from a gas station. I dunno who around here had suggested that as a solution but it definitely works on the solo cup scale.
Yay!
I’ll be along for the ride. Happy growing!
Sweet, good luck with these!
I am one that switched to 6:2 during veg. It has made a world of difference and the plants have responded well. I was hitting 62F during the 6 off but now 67F and they have taken off. Veg tent is not in the cold basement so I am not worried when I move them to 12:12 unless we get hit with a bunch of 100F days this summer.
I really have to switch the tent locations but I am lazy right now.
Let’s ride! Glad this round is going better for you. What strain did you go with? Be ready in about 3 weeks since they’re autos for flower, maybe sooner.
You’ve already increased your yield
Oh, I like the idea of the cup with water. Thank you.
@JaneQP I have them on a 16/8 light schedule. Is that wrong? Should they be 12/12? I was putting plastic cups over them during lights out so I don’t think they are too cold.
@Borderryan22 I was thinking they will be ready to go in more soil in a couple more weeks. I was going with the 3 gallon cloth bags. Does that sound good for the Autos? CBD Kush Autos
Nothing wrong at all! If you are doing 18:6 and finding they get too cold during the six hours of lights out then you can try 6:2. Lights on six hours and off two hours three times a day to regulate temperatures,
12:12 is only if for flower if you are growing photoperiods. If autos, stay at 18:6 or 6:2 three times a day if you are concerned with temperatures.
I apologize if my post was confusing.
Trust me the last grow was a mess with lighting since our 20 amp circuit went out and I had to share the 15 amp with the washer. Kids would turn off the tent to do laundry and forget to turn it back on! Plus the manual timer would get jostled and I find out the girls would be getting sporadic lights on during dark hours. Luckily none hermied and I was able to harvest.
I see you are 16:8. You could do 4:2 four times a day if you are concerned about temperatures or just switch it up to 18:6. These are hardy plants and can deal with nature and can humans be worse?
3 gallon will be fine for them. What size is the tent?
ok good, the tent is 4’x4’ and 63 inches high
Everything’s looking good in strapped in for the ride
You could go to 5 gallon of you wanted.
I read this and thought she sure did, look at all the journal traffic now
I’m set for the ride
It’s not that your other journal was bad, it’s just a really new section/off branch of this forum and I don’t think many have ventured over. This place is a handful alone
Ok, it’s my weekly Wednesday update. We’ve got leaves! oooooohhh
It looks like I have some real growth. I’ve been consistent with the light time and the temps are not swinging too much, although today it was 85 degrees in the tent so I had to turn on the fan. It’s good now at 75 degrees. We are also in for a cold snap so I will be monitoring that. Still having flux with the humidity but still working on it
I got my new glasses, so I won’t grow blind! Yay! Method 7
I have only been giving the girls water, no nukes so far.
You can see from one of the pics that they are getting roots showing. Here’s the big question:
Is it time to move them to the living soil?
It has been cooking and it ready if the girls are ready.
Once those roots start poking through, I treat my ladies like they’re ready to be treated like real plants and not fragile anymore. I say go for it, into the super soil!
Looking great, humidity is fought this time of year and can slow things to a crawl
Trying to get perfect with this chart will drive you crazy, just use it for a reference that your in the correct ballpark it does make a great difference
So, when I replant them into my bigger cloth bags, can I bury them deep like you would a tomatoe plant (up to right before the leaves) or do you plant them only even to the current soil level?
@JaneQP @oldmarine @StonedCold13 @BigCat420 @Borderryan22
You can plant just a little under if you want. Just don’t go too deep or you’ll have trouble getting under the branches to water as they grow. You can fold the sides of the bag down some if you need.
Exactly what @Borderryan22 said.
