Seriously… only 2 for 2024

LOL no need to separate it… It’s all piled up on top of the soil! The white outline is the perimeter and the green is super high concentrated! If I scoop within the green zone, I literally uncover tons of worms… it’s crazy LOL

And if you look closely at the pic of Larry, you can see that most of what is around him is worm poop! Little barrel-shaped clods…

Gotcha…that makes sense. You had me wondering. Larry is such a dirty boy. :joy:

Checkout the options.

I use 5 gal bucket stacks. I stop feeding the top one, once full, so they all migrated down to the food over a few days-week. I sift the top bucket for solids with a 1020 micro greens screen tray. I use them fresh, but sometimes I use an old breathable BaS bag to store. I usually top them with some fresh ground oatmeal and some wheat bran or preferred bokashi with biochar.

I should have known you’d have an answer to that. :joy:
You are major deep end action. I love it. Thanks for the info. Awesome site and even throw in the worms. Nice. :sunglasses::metal:t2:

@MikWya this is my current grow… winding down… maybe 4 more weeks for the stragglers.

Decided to snap a few trich shots yesterday… didn’t even bother with African Buzz.

On the GF1, she has black (actually really dark purple trichome heads which I find really odd and have not ever seen it before. I also see a few amber but I’m thinking it had to be on a sugar leaf because they are obviously not ready yet… maybe a few more weeks.

Now, I also have a LOT of earth worms… Is there such thing as too many earth worms?

With the earth worms, comes these pesky little things called Symphylans (I know it sounds like something from Star Trek LOL. But all laughing aside, they basically eat on young roots and I have a LOT of them as well. They use the earth worm tunnels to navigate through the soil

I’m letting the top few inches of the soil dry out and I’ll scratch in some DE in hopes I can reduce the number of them… don’t know what else to do because I don’t want to kill the earth worms… or do I? maybe some of them LOL…

Maybe @Budbrother or @GreenJewels have some suggestions about this…

I suggested earwigs to her. They are omnivore, desiccator’s. They would consume many of the larvae. It would also help to control worm and Springtail pop.

Worms self regulate populations based on food availability. Doubtful that you have too many, but having a natural predator in the mix all but guarantees an equilibrium.

If the earwig population gets too large, you can use oil traps to reduce numbers. I had to do this at one time.

Edit: don’t add to large amount of DE or you will be injuring your worms as well

I’ve gone around the property looking for earwigs but haven’t found any… hmmm… I know I’ve seen them around before.

For the DE, I’ll keep it very shallow since the worms don’t usually come to the surface… then I’ll cover with a little bit of my soil.
