Seeds i purchased from ILGM questionable

I’ve had a couple from ILGM that were pale and scrawny. They did what they were supposed to do, though! ILGM is out of Amsterdam but has a California office, plus they don’t respond on weekends, so give them a couple more days and they’ll get back to you. They’ll most likely send you a 5pk since all their beans are already sorted out for dist. I had 2 out of a Mix Pack not germ and they sent me a coupon code for the cost of a 5pk. Paid the extra $20 for a 10pk.

I have bought many times from ILGM, all different looking seeds, very seldom did one not sprout after 3-4 days in a glass of water, but occasionally I did get a bad one, and ILGM always replaced it. My opinion. Is, grow it, if something is wrong they will replace it.

If there’s one thing I have seen in all my reading, it’s not to jude a book by it’s cover or seed by it’s look.

Yes, pale and moist (can squish in your fingers) is a no go but the myth’s we heard about seeds back in the day all seem to be false. Dark, light, stripes, no stripes, etc…none of that seems to matter.

I would let them know about the one they shorted you and I’m sure they’ll make it right. Other than that, don’t worry about it until germination

I kinda thought the same thing when I got my seeds.
However, the giant tree out my window reminded me that the tree came from a tiny seed.

I only suggested the other company as that is one of their coding schemes. Sometimes people buy from multiple places and then forget which from where. But since you’ve only bought from ILGM, guess they switched their codes!

I wish I could buy from here, but they won’t ship to Canada. Strange since they are overseas and most European companies will ship here. We are legal!

Those look like healthy seeds. I dont kkow if its the strain or not because the Mowie Wowie seeds look good. Its just the NYC Deisel seeds that look like secondary seeds. Very small and dark green. I just hope they germinate. As long as they germinate. Its not the outsides im truly worried about. Its whats on the inside.

Heres a photo for comparison so you can see what im saying.

See how crappy those NYC Deisels look compared to the MW on the bottom?

This is the first time i ever had to buy seeds… maybe its just some internal mechanism i have over mothering my plants…lol… i just cant get over how much seeds cost. Do you realize how many seeds i have tossed in my lifetime! We hated seeds !

Id roll with the diesel seeds. Ive gotten seeds that looked smaller and non viable from ilgm and every one of them has produced excellent bud. As the saying goes, dont judge a book by its cover. If they dont germ, then shoot customer service a message , theyll treat you right. Heres one of the strawberry coughs i germes in a 3 part water 1 part peroxide for 12 hours and a tap has already emerged. Its already in soil.

Ive read that peroxide removes the microbes that are nessassary to help crack open the seed. I tried the glass of water with hydrogen peroxide and none germinated .
What is the best way to germinate?
Ive always had success with just a damp paper towel in a dark place. Regardless, i guess im going to have to do it the way ILGM advocates or will i lose my customer service replacement seeds if they dont?

Then do it that way.

What if they dont germinate and i didnt do it like ILGM says to? Will that cross out the replacement garrunttee? @Tokerpoker

From what i’ve seen, and i’ve read A LOT, ILGM stands behind their stuff. We’re not talking about a back alley dealer pushing seeds. There are plenty of successful methods on this site and you rarely hear of anyone getting a “sorry about your bad luck” response from ILGM. Here is some good reading. Tips and Tricks for Germinating Seeds

I use a peroxide solution and have a 99percent success rate. Im not sure but I think your over thinking the size of the seeds, i could dump out say 300 store bought and you wouldnt know if they came from a vendor or a bag seed. The few times I have reached out for the support angels always had a good response.

The last run was 21, 19 sprouted they werent ILGM seeds

No… i got you… i know they are legit at ILGM. That’s why i purchased my seeds off them.
I appreciate the link. I read thecwhole thread and it had alot of good information. I guess i just had alot of bad seeds before because i just germinated over 200 seeds easily but only had 17 actually germinate. They were bag seeds that i accumulated from 2016 until 2022. So, im sure some went bad from fluctuating temps. But, i had alot of failures when it cones to doing this. I tried the soaking in a glass of water and only got 1 seed to germ out of 21. I did tap them to the bottom though, i read not good so…? Maybe it had something to do with the temperature? It was a little cold still back in April up here by Ohio? Or maybe i used to much hydrogen peroxide i did throw at least an ounce of mild hydrogen peroxide topical solution. Its real weak… that could’ve been it. I put them in baggies in moist paper towels. They wouldn’t budge. I just need to be more diligent in getting all the conditions correct.

if it makes you feel any better i have bough at least 100 seeds from here and never had a problem. Seeds even for the same strain have come in different sizes but all have pop and grew healthy happy plants.

Its just one of those things… as i recall its not always the nicest looking seeds that i would expect to crack open but then i would be suprised that it’s the average impotent looking seeds that will germ the quickest. They might not be a big healthy plump looking root but they grow big too…

Exactly. That’s the point I was trying to make. Bag seeds are, well, bag seeds. I’m sure ILGM isn’t going out to gorilla grow sites and collecting bastard seeds to sell to their customers. Yes, as with anything, occasionally there will be problems, but not normally.
I get ya on being gun shy, but have faith, trust the process and don’t sweat the small stuff. You’ll be fine :+1:
