Seedling starting to turn yellow

I have two 1-week old seedlings (ILGM WWA) and one is starting to turn a bit pale. Not really yellow, but not as green as her sister.

I did give them some nutes based on the FF schedule for seedlings and cuttings. Too soon? Overwatered?

They are under 2 900-watt LCD lights. Temp is 73-75, humidity is 60% or so. Lights are 18" away. They are in organic mulch, coco and perlite. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

Yellow leafs are usually the first sign of nitrogen deficiency. Your plant might need a little food.

What is the organic mulch composed of?

Are you using a pH meter to test your water and nutrients? @JuliaBelle

The organic compost says “compost made from plant material and food waste”. That’s the only ingredient. I’m using ph drops to test the water and nutes.

@JuliaBelle that’s probably a soil. But if it we’re me I’d do a slurry test to make sure!

Take a couple cups of water and pH to 6.5 add a heaping tbsp of that soil to it and stir it up good and let it set for 10 minutes. Check the pH again and let us know what you get!

Thanks! I’ll do that tomorrow.

@JuliaBelle first off let me say welcome to Iglm
Good advice @bob31 gave you it most likely a ph issue at that stage do not feed her yet she doesn’t need food you’ll definitely burn her you may want to do a slurry test on your soil to test your ppm and ph of the soil so you know your starting point ?
Did they add any else into the soil time release nutes etc that you know of

The bag says it’s only compost made from plant matter and food waste. No added ingredients.

Yes, those exact drops

There are no added nutrients but that soil will support her for a few weeks. I’d let her get 3 nodes going at least before feeding, but we can walk along with you on that. May I recommend that you cover he with a small clear cup or a cutoff water bottle or something? Spray the inside of the dome as needed. The sprouts love high humidity!

OK, the babies are now covered with a clear plastic cup. I did the slurry test with water PH’d to about 6, and after 10 minutes with the soil in it, I tested the water and it looked about 7.0. I know that’s too high, so what do I do? Just water with PH’d water?

that confirms that is in fact soil and you want the water and nutrients (when its time) to pH at as close to 6.5 as possible.

The clear cup, take it off every couple of hours and let them get some fresh air for a few minutes.

I had to dome one of mine up again yesterday. Similar symptoms to yours. One is fine and the other is looking pretty sick. They do that sometimes! @JuliaBelle
