Seed collection show and tell

Nice collection there, do the Landrace strains take longer seeds to harvest? I was looking at The Real Seed Company they have some amazing seeds.

All great strains, definitely want to get my hands on some wedding cake seeds, I’m smoking some right now!

Veg time is about the same, flowering times are usually longer.

I’ll have to take a look. Always something new.

If I’m ever up in the middle of the night and bored I’ll try to get an updated list and picture. I keep my seeds in cigar box and then in the refrigerator. Most have been removed from original packaging in order to get them all into the cigar box. I just recently went through and grabbed everything I had 2 or less of and sent them to a friend, but there’s probably still easily close to 100 strains in there. Your collection will grow faster than the plants I’m sure.

If anyone has a true Columbian Gold I’d love to get my hands on some of that. My dad told me a story about him smoking some back in the 70s and ever since I have been on the hunt. He passed away in 2014 so it has become more of I want to do this in memory of him. Thanks people love you all!

jesus 100 strains. how long did it take you to get a collection like that?

I’ve been at it for quite some time. Once you’re not spending money on growing equipment your seed collection can fill up pretty quickly. Watch places you like for special promotions too. If you stay with it long enough you will eventually run into other growers too, then you can swap seeds with them as well.

What’s the oldest seed you’ve had in the fridge thats germinated?
Cheers mate.

I know I’ve had 6yo c99 germinate. Some that may have been older, but no way of knowing for sure.

If you have good mature seeds and keep them in cool, dark, and dry storage location, they should remain viable for a long time.

Hey @dbrn32 wasn’t somebody going to try to grow some seeds that their dad gave them for the 70’s I can’t remember who?

Probably, I don’t remember though.

I remember now it was @Nicky. Hey Nicky have you tried those seeds from your dad from the 70’s yet?

I got about 8 to crack and none seeded…

They say you can use sand paper to thin the shell of the seed before the soak.
It comes down to if they were stored properly.
This is why there is a world seed bank in the core of a mountain… Because without proper storage even the best technology we have won’t seed them.

Let them soak for up to two weeks though and thin the shells out best of luck.
If they are regular seeds, study’s have shown that a bit of nitrogen in the soak will increase chances of a female

As to your question seeds can be kept for over 100 years if stored in a dry cool dark place. Dono what the exact perfect humidity is but I’m sure it’s not bone dry like our fridges are…

I think it’s more about the temperature , fridge temp is better environment to stop the seed wanting to germinate. Also keeping water away from seeds and light.

I just ordered the Sativa mix pack
Chocolope
Strawberry Cough
Super Lemon Haze

When I clicked “Checkout” I got a pop-up

“Would you like some Gold Leaf at 50% off?”

Yes please!

So now I’m getting 4 strains

I think you’ll like that one. The phenotype I grew was finicky, but the terpenes and flower production was really good.

Finicky in what way? I’m still really new so any input I find super valuable. Do you have a journal for it? @Covertgrower

I just recently did the same thing lmao
