Second grow. Granddaddy Purple😈

Once again i dont smoke so no clue lol. I grow for my grandma with cancer

Got ya man! Well, I’ll do some more research and stuff and hopefully come up with some stuff.

Will post an update when these little babies sprout from the soil when I plant. Take care brotha :call_me_hand:

If you have any questions about it

Greetings, brother.
What you are wanting in dense buds, you must want to work under these strict guide lines. Mostly I found high quality lighting is not just one area but the slightest little issue can haunt your goal. You must make better investments to accomplish what your looking for rather than what you currently have now.
Environment constant temp and humidity non stop, genitcs, better pots, need a better light, lighting heights taller tent unless you can accomplish better LST techniques, lighting duration, nutrients, watering, harvesting, co2 system and more.
Read below, the closest you are going to get with your current setup is as I have stated before use the entire foxfarm feeding chart which you were hesitant to buy, the other needs to accomplish what you are wanting will be far much more expensive. Just a single magic nutrient is not a dream maker.
Do yourself a favor read. Be careful in chasing a snap of the finger cure all of these play a very important part in dense buds.
Take care.

First and foremost I just want to say that I’m working with what I’ve got and the room I’ve got. so let me just say there NO way I can get a bigger tent. Unless I were to move. So try and work with me and the things I’m working with.

Read up on some good stuff from your link. Thanks man.
I definitely understand now. I have a weird feeling about fox farm for some reason. I feel people has lots of mixed feelings on if it’s a good brand. I’ve also heard that most of the nutrients are ā€œscamsā€ and to only buy (if I were to buy some) the three, Beastie bloomz, cha Ching, and open sesame. However I feel that you have a really good judgement and think I may just end up buying the ā€œdirty dozenā€. And end up using them all.

I’m sure I’ve told you what light I’m using but it’s a 240w light and to be honest the only reason I got the specific light is because someone recommended me to really buy it. However what light would you recommend me use or buy? What would I do with the one I’ve got now?

Also thinking about investing in a PPFD meter so I’m more accurate with my lighting. Feel like after I did some reading that maybe the light was supposed to be at 100% during flower. Had it on 75%. But wanting a meter that is easy and not too expensive. Price doesn’t matter too much though

Greetings
Reason the light was at 75% was because you couldn’t meet your height requirements at 16 inches. your height was causing light burn from not doing LST. Also with what you had to work with wouldn’t have given you any tighter buds, All equipment is costly but needed to get what you are looking for. Sorry specs and equipment and nutrients are in the mix for a good quality grow.
I suggest nothing at this point because you stated you were going to work with what you have.
I don’t feel I can help you achieve what you are looking for with what you got and it sounds you lost faith in me and foxfarm products and you have never used them to there fullest. They work for others as well as me. Just remember nutrients is not your answer everything is needed to have a good grow. Suggestions are like butt holes everyone’s got one when it comes to a nutrients line.
You got your first grow have fun and I will say goodbye I hope I was helpful.
take care

Just ordered myself the dirty dozen and a PPFD meter that will help me out this grow. Thanks for your help.

For the PPFD meter, I put it on ā€œLuxā€ setting correct? Just want to make sure when I get it tomorrow. The dirty dozen should be here Thursday

Yep let me see if i can find the conversion for you…

They have a nifty online calculator

Awesome, thanks man

Use chart for autoflowers. DLI

On the chart.

Use Regular growth light yellow. Lower levels

Dark yellow is using a co2 injection system.
Higher levels

The high yellow numbers are higher like I said are using co2, which the mix of high lighting and co2 is what gives you the tighter nugs.
The good quality lighting is a must for hard nugs even though you reach these numbers. You need the benefits of much broaderfull spectrum lamps.

Nutrients are not the answer alone for tight nugs, but they include a part.

Everything combined,
Nutrients
Lighting full spectrum lamps
Environmental conditions maintained
Genitcs of seed strains and types
Pots-- size, air triming pots
This has all to be met to get a tight nug.
We all try for tight nugs but it is not always a given easy.
Some times it is just lucky finding a good seed, that is why alot of people use clones. Once found they are a good treasure to keep using. Clones are the best.

So it’s 12/12 for seedlings? Am I reading this correctly

The light schedlue??? I always do 18/6 or 19/5… 12/12 is for flower

Greetings, brother.
The bottom of the chart shows 16 to 24, that is telling you you can use your lighting options I use 18-6. Which is best for autoflowers. You can reasurch what is best in your opinion.
The side of the chart where you are seeing is the total DLI daily light integral of power to read output of your light with your meter.
DLI for each week is is showing plant age at the bottom. As the plant matures in weeks the output power level increases so as not to cause damage to the plant at a young age. Even though you have a light you must kinda play mother nature in the sun gets stronger from spring to fall. As you see it basicly is at 45 DLI from week 6 to week 12 during veg and early flower then decreasing down in ripening.
You choose your light cycle much as nature gives cloudy days and lower light days towards fall from regions to regions. Staying stable at my choice is 18-6 from most autoflowers growers.
This is been what I have used for years growing autoflowers.
The DLI starts out at 12 dli in power at week 1 then at week 2 the dli increases to 16 then week 3 it increases to 20 then week 4 it increases to 30 then week 5 to 40 dli then finally to 6 to 12 weeks it stays at 45 dli then it decreases for maturing.
Don’t forget to raise your light as to manufacturers specs as well.
Take care

Greetings, brother.
Also so since you all are interested in tight nugs to be achieved I try to follow this guide below. This is why I use the veg stump tea.
give Autoflower cannabis high levels of nitrogen during the vegetative stage of growth, as this is when the plant needs the most nitrogen to develop its leaves and stems; during the flowering stage, you should significantly reduce the amount of nitrogen provided and focus on phosphorus and potassium instead.

Key points about nitrogen and autoflowers:

  • High nitrogen during veg:

In the early stages of growth, when the plant is actively producing foliage, a higher nitrogen level is necessary to support healthy leaf development.

  • Lower nitrogen during flower:

As the plant transitions into flowering, reduce the nitrogen level in your nutrient solution to prevent excessive foliage growth and promote bud development.

  • NPK ratio shift:

During the vegetative phase, look for a fertilizer with a higher nitrogen number in the NPK ratio (e.g., 20-10-10), while in flowering, switch to a higher phosphorus and potassium ratio (e.g., 5-15-10).
This is added along with my foxfarm nutrients for the veg stump tea during veg times.
This my friends is why Open sesame, Beastie Bloom, and Cha Ching are so vitally important for bud development that we all want. Other companies may or may not offer their version of bud builders butnI have been using foxfarm for years from great growers on this site. This is how I when from the trio to the full nutrients on the chart recommend by great growers here, taking bud of the month before.
Take care

Greetings, brother.
I was checking out your hydro grow, nice progress. Love your plants good job, just hope I can have your progress. I am sure I will be asking you for a bunch of newbie questions since you have fresh experiences.
By the way I had all bad experiences with gaia greens top dressing, did you use in soil?
That is where I used them but I tried water only soil at the time and only on one grow.I am kinda anxious toget started.

If you break a limb again put honey on the break tape it up with a paper clip splint.

I saw you tried fft for hydro, that was told to me when I first started out reasurching at my grow shops not use or to try salvaged nutrients that you use for soil that is tried and true. I was told it causes to many ph swings and muddies up you roots. I was wanting to use mine up as well since I have 3 to 4 grows of them left, but I decided to just do soil grows until I ran out or decide if I was liking hydro and keep them for future soil grows.
Quite a few recommend General hydroponics nutrients schedule and then going on this site I hooked up with you saw Retiredoldguy and told me to give it a try.
Let me know if you buy the ones that was just recommend to you on keeping the ph stable. Let me know if you try I will go try in different buckets to make decisions. I have General hydroponics on hand but I haven’t started yet so I don’t mind a new purchase If its easier with my health.
I pray your grandmother is doing well she has been on my mind with others I grow for as well with cancer, hospice will not let me use it with pain management.
I am having a better day today so many set backs with tests but I am told I am definitely going under the knife on Wednesday, I can’t wait.
Take care

So im useing the fft for the hydro and not having any major problems with them right now. I will be switching to megacrop 1 part for next hydro grow. As far as the gaia green im liking it not having any major problems short of 2 plants were a lil more mag hungry than the others.

Greetings, brother.
Would you recommend using fft for hydro grow then? I thought I read you had a moment and was asking advice on switching? I mite have mis understood. If so I will use up my fft then.
The gaia green didn’t give me any important improvements but then again I was using water only soils. I still have it which one do you have mine was for building buds. How much do you recommend in 5 gallon water?
Here is some more light reasurching I have been doing for Bryce and his new meter.
I have had very good outcomes with using this site and its reads.

Signs For Too Much Light

Light Burn

Light burn is the most common sign of too high PAR levels on a cannabis plant. It is also commonly referred to as leaf burn and causes yellow leaves with green veins and stems.

Light burn might easily be mistaken with a Nitrogen deficiency, which also turns the leaves yellow. A simple indicator is how strong the yellow leaves are attached to the stem: While Nitrogen-deficient leaves fall off on their own, light-burned leaves are hard to pluck off. Furthermore, light burn is mainly affecting the leaves on the top of the plant while a Nitrogen deficiency starts at the bottom of the plant.

Loose And Airy Buds

An excess of light also causes the plant’s metabolism to work harder which often causes nutrient deficiencies and generally weak, loose, and airy buds that might even feel crisp.

Light-bleached ā€œWhiteā€ Buds

Bud bleaching can happen when the buds itself get too much light and causes them to loose their color pigments and turn white. This must not be mistaken by a very resinous, trichome covered bud. Bleached buds are often less potent and might even lose allmost all of the cannabinoids.

Signs For Too Little Light

Slow Growth

The most obvious factor is slower than expected growth. As light is one of the key ingredients for plants to photosynthesize, with too little light, they just can’t grow as desired. To identify slow growth, it might be helpful to compare the height of your plants to the regular height of the same strain at the same age.

Stretching

When in a lack of light, most plants respond to this by spurring stem growth to move themselves closer to the light. This can be detected visually by higher internode spacing and an overall taller look of the plant.
