I use rods ranging from 38-44. Love my 42" xxh from Wolfram. We are generally running in shallow water, <50’ for most of the lakes and rivers we get on.

Those rods are bad ass, I have built all our Ice rods, think we have six each (the wife and I) also built my gransons ice rod and spinning, son and his wife a spinning rod, and maybe 25 more out there some where, mainly Rainshadow, MHX, and Basskhang blanks, blanks are starting to get slim for Ice rods without spending 80-100 bucks for average joe, would love to get bulk price but do not built that many. 
Wife wants to do a fancy fish house on the ice up there next yr for a week, show one on you tube now it all I hear now just got my Otter xl Cabin down here to clean up and check gear we may be going for Splake next weekend.

Thanks Growmie! My brother builds rods and ties flies. Really active on the fly scene out in CO. You guys that build rods is something worth admiring, for sure!
