I belive you are correct B :joy:. There aint no telling what i started by flushing yesterday and i still dont get why the ph was higher after i flushed. But, unless it starts looking sick or something im not gunna tinker with it lol.

I think im gunna let the turkeys have the day off. Well at least this morning lol. Gunna start my piebald hide today. I got the bobcat fleshed snd salted yesterday, hopefully i can knock the deer out pretty quick. Ill get it fleshed, salted and hang it to dry for 4-5 days. Then ill rehydrate it and put it in a pickling solution for 3 days. After you pickle it then you use baking soda to neutralize the acid and your ready to tan! Cover in tanning oil and roll er up for 24 hours. Unroll and thoroughly rinse and you have yourself a tanned hide!!

I learned how to do that on YouTube, just like the Indians :joy:.

Goodmorning everyone!! We have our neices again this weekend so i had to go ahead and water yesterday morning before the lights came on. Had to lock the room up and aint been back in there in about 24 hours :grimacing:. Im sure she looks the same but it always freaks me out. It will be this evening before i can check on her.

Ph is still coming out around 7 . The flush didn’t seam to change much, im sure it helped something. The runoff water from the flush started out pretty dark and before it was over it was fairly clear but the ph was still elevated. It doesn’t seam to be getting any higher, just hovers around 7.

These are the numbers in and out this round with jacks 4/2. Planning on doing another plain water feeding in a couple of days since ppm out was on the high side. Coming up on week 6 of flower!!

Nice bird! What were the stats on it? Bear and spurs? Looks like a 20 ga. Is it? Single shot, haven’t used one of those in a long time. Is that the bird you said was hanging around couple weeks ago? It’s great to get your birds opening morning , but dang then the season is over. :disappointed: I have bagged my bird 15 minutes into the season and I have also bagged my bird with 15 minutes left in the season. Although getting up that early everyday and getting out in the woods is rough for someone who likes to sleep till 7:00 everyday It sure rewarding when all you to call them in works perfect. Congratulations on a fine looking bird! What part of the country are you in that you’re hunting turkeys and bass fishing tournaments already? I am in Michigan in my season opens in 2 weeks. I already started driving the back roads looking for flicks to see if they are breaking up. So far there’s still 15-20 of them together so we got some warm weather to get before they start breaking up some more.

Im in alabama. Ive got 3 turkeys so far, we have a 4 bird limit but ive never been able to get a limit lol. Got a real good start this year haha. Seen several jakes and hens yesterday but no long beards.

#1 was 19lb 15oz 7" beard and 3/4 spurs.
#2 was 21lbs 8oz 10" beard 7/8 spurs.
#3 was 19lbs 6oz 10" beard 3/4 spurs.

Shooting a savage 301 410 turkey extra full with federal premium tss 9 1/2. Sucker is deadly lol. #3 was 52 yards!

I thought that looked like a mighty small barrel but I was never going to guess a 410 for turkey hunting. I love those TSS rounds they are the best. I use a 20 gauge and the TSS rounds and my farthest so far is 68 yd. And it dropped like you dropped a pallet of bricks on its head. Wow a four-bird limit? Holy smoke! Here in Michigan it’s one bird and done. Happy hunting pal wish I was there with you.

I wish you were too . They have got used to all my calling and they know to keep there mouth shut when the cripple hen shows up :joy:. A yelp with a northern accent might fire them up haha.

5 years ago that was unheard of!!

Been chasing these ugly birds since the late 80’s and until recently ( as in about the last 5 years) never took a shot over 40 yards. But yes with the extra full turkey chokes on the end of the barrel and these TSS rounds which have 4’s, 5’s and 6’s in them It really extended the range. I also dropped from the 12 Ga to the 20 Ga to give my shoulders a break. Sucks getting old. But it beats the alternative.

Heck you should look into the 410. Those single shots are less than $200 and come with and extra full choke. With the thumbhole stock you can shoot one handed if you want. Feels about like a 2 3/4 dove load out of a 12 gauge lol.

No thanks I like to have a quick follow up shot just in case. I shoot a Mossberg 500 20 Ga. Pump w/ extra full turkey choke. Never lost a bird. Knock on wood.

Beautiful bird!! Im headed to the woods now. Windy as crap but i gotta try lol. I actually swapped to this 410 from a mossberg maverick 88 12 gauge. I love that gun too!! Shooting an ported undertaker with 3" longbeards! Hard to beat but it hurts me and the turkey :joy:

Finally got to go peek in the tent lol. Looking good to the best of my knowledge!! @Low do you think i need to start considering another defoliation or just let her grow? Still pretty thick in there but not as bad as it used to be lol.
