Looking for some input on the health of the roots. This is a 3 week old plant pulled from a flood/drain hydroponic set up. 18/6 light cycle, general hydroponics 4 step nutrients. Roots had a nice clean snap when I broke them. Appreciate any feedback
They look healthy to me maybe the roots could look a bit whiter but I’m no expert on this im goin with what i can see
@dbrn32 Hello I’ve been following several threads and see you have great input on many subjects. Can you provide any input on the root growth and color? I am using General Hydroponics 4 step in recommended doses. Any help is most appreciated
I’m an ol dirty farmer so can’t really help with why or how to fix the dark roots but the leaves are lookin a bit like they need some magnesium
Magnesium
Magnesium is an immobile nutrient that enables a cannabis plant to convert light into useable energy, making it a key element in the process of photosynthesis. Magnesium is the main part of chlorophyll that allows it to synthesize carbohydrates and sugars for the plant. If pH is too low, not enough magnesium gets absorbed and a cannabis plant will quickly suffer.
Deficiency Symptoms:
- Lower leaves affected first
- Light leaf margins
- Crispy leaf edges
- Brown spots and red stems can develop
Tip : Epsom salts can be used to remedy a lack of magnesium.
@MeEasy thank you for the diagnosis will look into getting Mg into the mix. My meter hasn’t arrived yet but testing the PPM is on the list. My Ph is regulated typically up to 5.0-6.0 range. Water temp is a little high at a norm of 76-77. I have a chiller coming to reduce that to 68-70
The high water temps may have them looking the way they do. If you’ll have chiller soon I wouldn’t worry too much. If not you could use something like hydroguard and make sure you’re running a lot of dissolved oxygen.
Try keeping your ph pretty tight to 5.8 as well.
