RO in a Condo - First Timer

Hi folks - First time grower. I’ve been using purified water to keep my girls happy over the past few weeks, and we are on the verge of going into full-on veg. I know that as I go along, getting purified water from the store is going to get silly and I would rather not get a ton of attention with tons of jugs of water. I’ve been looking at RO systems, but they all seem to involve plumbing work that does not work well with my place (I have no utility space). I also don’t want to be the guy who floods his neighbors’ units. Do you guys have any recs for systems or methods that might be helpful as I ramp up watering? Please and thank you!

We’ve seen people use the RO Buddy, which is a portable RO system.

I use this small screw onto the faucet type I picked up on Amazon and it suites my style and needs perfectly.

I am interested; how long does it take to fill a gallon bottle? Thanks

Not too long. It’s a thin fill hose but there’s also the waste hose. I’d say coupla minutes.

My containers on the floor there are 3 gal. They take a bit longer lol.

Also add on a TDS meter to give you readings.

Once you drop down your ph and tds pen won’t give accurate readings.

Depends on your system and water pressure, the general consumer ROs are generally 50 (about 2 gallons and hour) gallons per day or 100 (about 4 gallons an hour) gallons per day…

Those are generally optimal water pressure, you may get slightly more or less…

Dollar for dollar if you need more than 100 gallons per day, it’s generally cheaper to get multiple 100 gallon a day units vs the initial cost and filter replacement upcharge for a higher volume commercial unit…

I remember seeing this some time ago. I would have done it but we already have an RO system.
I still may some day.

This is what I use. It sits on a counter in the bathroom off my bedroom. It screws into the faucet where the screen goes. I little less science experiment looking. Has three or 4 filters in it.

This is an absolute truth…no matter how careful you think you are… you will overflow the bucket. Make sure it is in the tub or shower.

The R/O Buddy is very reasonably priced, and works awesome for my needs. I live in a trailer, so space is at a premium. If it fits under my bathroom sink I’m sure it will fit under most others. I made a 10’ long 1/4" feed line that reaches my tub for when I fill my jugs. I also attached a cap from one of the 5 gallon water jugs to the end of the line so my cats can’t pull it out during filling, lol.
It works perfectly. I use about 10 to 12 five gallon jugs a week in the grow room, and I replace the filters and membrane twice a year. Never had a leak or any other issues at all.

No question my friend, it’s one of the best things I bought for the grow room. @Bulldognuts suggested it to me several years ago now, and I haven’t had any water issues since!

my water is trash lol. 12.0 on the ph meter, straight out the faucet lol.

Wow, that’s nuts. I thought mine was bad coming in at around 8.5. The TDS of mine is terrible too. Sometimes it can be over 500ppm. That’s why I’m so happy with the R/O Buddy.
