Question regarding grow light

I have hydro plus full spectrum 600W led lights with a switch for Veg and a switch for flower. I have attached a photo of the plants, i have them on a 18/6 timer. My question is, for the beginning stages, which one do I set veg or flower? Or both?

Turn on the veg switch blue Spectrum.

Thank you Kellydans. Also how long do I keep them on veg? At this stage should I keep the covered with a clear solo cup?

Depending on the actual wattage draw of that light, I would imagine you’d want both on all the way through? :man_shrugging:

Just looked, looks like it’s actual draw is 240 watts…what size area and how far? And @dbrn32 is good with lights, for sure…so he may have better insight than me. Well, he does definitely…but you know what I mean.

I have a 2x4x5 foot grow tent. The lights are exactly 24” from the plants.

I’m sure at the seedling stage veg only is fine and then after a node or two, might make sense to switch it over to both…but again I’m not super knowledgeable on this, just regurgitating what I have seen, read, and learned along the way so far.
Just want to clarify after re-reading I didn’t mean switch to 12/12 to flower then, just add the bloom lighting to boost the overall amount of usable light for the plants.

@Bodiefromthewire After plants have 4 to 5 full sets of leafs I would turn both switches on for the extra boost. 24 inchs on light is good for now. Maybe a few more days on the clear Dome for the couple of smaller seedlings.

I had them on both lights since yesterday, they’re on a timer. I checked this morning and they were all laying down. I turned the flowering light ti off and gave the all a few squats if the spray bottle and put the clear solo cups over them again. I also filled my humidifier which was empty, and I turned the heater down. What did I do wrong? Will this help by doing the things I did afterwards?

If you got room in the top of the pot I would do a little back filling with some soil to help support the stems. Also if you can get a small fan create just a little air flow to get the seedlings to jiggle a little will help strengthen the stems. The seedlings don’t need a lot of light only the veg switch for now.
