Question about using tap water

From a fellow grower: I have a question about the water. Right now I’m buying gallons of Poland spring water, Is there a type of filter system or other a way to utilize my tapwater without harming my plants?

What’s the TDS and PH of your tap water?

@OGIncognito’s question is a good one.

If you want a system at home, the research RO (reverse osmosis) systems.

Yep. I go for the new grower’s questions since it is the most effective place for me to have a positive impact. I rarely open posts that have more than 10 or 15 replies.

I grow just fine with plain tap water dechlorinated for 24 hours before use as long as your tap isn’t from a well you’ll be just fine( don’t forget to ph of course) and here is proof from current and last grow

@OGIncognito I also like to see who is replying. Some posters I try to always read to see what they have to say.

Things I read from other water posts.

If you are on city water water you should be able to get a copy of the testing results.

Check pH and TDS. If TDS is high some growers adjust their nutrients.

Also bypass the water softener if you have one by taking it from an outside bib.

You could also consider setting up a rain barrel.

You got some great 1st responders :ambulance: here!! I went with an r/o system I found on Amazon. If you don’t mind the waste water of utilizing a system like this it’s great.

Someone has posted somewhere on the forum a setup with a Brita gravity type filter and a 5 gallon bucket for a super cheap water filter. RO is what I have. My tap water has chlorine but works fine if it sets for 24hrs in an open container to gas off the chlorine.

I use a PUR Water filter and have has zero issues. I don’t even need to use Cal-mag.

My tap water is pH ≈ 7.8 & TDS ≈ 350.

I don’t do anything to my tap water other than adjust the pH.

Not sure but I will be testing, I also got a special filtration system from Amazon that’s recommended highly for guarding. Thanks a lot all of you for your answers that are extremely helpful! Happy growing to y’all until next time!

Fill a large pot with tap water, make it come to a boil. You then have distilled water.
