Question about light spectrums

Can some one explain to me in layman’s terms what the difference in plant growth would be using these 2 lights.

These are the 2 spider farmer lights I have, doing research for perhaps another light.

The upper one did seem to produce much tighter buds but they were completely different styles of growing andnInstill dont know what im doing yet

With a high ppfd average i wouldn’t expect you to see a lot of difference in a controlled grow. Light A is probably using something like 3000k cct with 660nm supplemental and light B is probably 5000k cct with 660nm supplemental. See example of the “white” cct’s from Samsung below.

If I had to guess light A is older design, it represents what led industry was doing 5ish years ago. Light B represents what horticulture led manufacturers have been going towards since Samsung released their horticulture modules.

You are awesome!

I hope you have a great day!

The higher blue spectrum on the 2nd light helps keep nodes tighter with less stretching.

As an aside, I always enjoy your tech expertise even though I don’t use grow lights…yet. But it does make me feel confident that when/if I do foray into that arena, that there is help and knowledge available. Thanks.

Nice. So if you look at my grow journal, that explains the difference in node spacing and vertical growth between the 2 plants I mentioned. I thought it was the different genetics of the plants

BTW the bottom light is the sf 2000 200w top light is se4500 320w light

But the 320w produced significantly tighter buds. But not really apples for apples like thisnone will be

Regardless of spectrum, wattage plays a significant role. With that said, i would struggle to grow 2 plants on 200 watts of light. 320 got you in the ballpark, hence the tighter buds.

I would venture to say most here are runnning at least 500 watts of led or Hid.

So i am using (2) sf 2000 in the 3x3 so it’s roughly 400 watts yes?

I also had scrogging issues and let it get too full. Didn’t prune enough. The very tops were pretty good but everything else got kinda fluffy which also improved after curing (8 weeks friday)

I live in a desert and had humidity issues, had to buy a dehumidifier lol. No such problems this run so far.

Once you get it all dialled in , you will be rewarded . Yeah I’m a desert dweller too lol . Makes things difficult sometimes , depending on strains . Not everything grows well out here . Peace .
