Purple trichome stalks?

I wish i had a way to take a pic! But i have an apple fritter photo. About two weeks out and under my 30x glass im seeing some of the trichomes stalks are purple! Maybe it’s common but its new to me :sunglasses:

Young trichomes are clear. What you are seeing is the background plant material is colored and makes them appear to be purple. Such coloration is common.

Im sure you’re right, but it appears to be like a tube inside the stalk going all the way up to the head … all in all pretty cool😎

That was a fun one to grow. Hope you are having fun with it.

The trichomes I collected from that run even had a purple hue

Hey @Low , I did a little trim cleanup myself today!

Ended a with a full jar, note the two distinct colors from the Pancakes and Snowcaine…

How are you guys collecting all that kief?

Trim tray with kieff screen. Oh yeah and by growing frosty buds! Lol

:point_up_2:t3: pretty much. I dry trim and pulverize small buds with a machine so I can sift out the kief. Probably one of my favorite parts of harvest.

Last couple of runs :call_me_hand:t3:

That is gorgeous @Low, and with the purple trim layer through it chef’s kiss. Now that’s a birthday cake!

Getting that particular trim bin soon so good to see others are using it :metal:

What purple strain is that you pictured? :eyes:  all about the purps

Thank you! That’s a strain called Midnight Snack.

CoyoteCody found the purple pheno and used it to make seeds. Nearly every seed popped turns purple. I think we did 4 different seeds and we had a couple different varieties. One geared towards sweet, one towards spicy.

I’m pretty new to all of this. Smoking included. Smoked as a kid then quit. In 40 years a lot has changed!

Many many stupid questions🤣

First, do you guys harvest kieff on purpose? Or is that the result of your trim?
If on purpose, what is your technique? And how do you use this?

Second, besides genetics, what are some of the secrets to ultra frosty buds? Now that i can at least grow successfully Im looking to tweak the game a bit. Looked at adding uv but a lot of confusing info out there. Uva vs uvb and amount of time and when…yada yada. But what are you crystalline bud gurus doing?

Lastly for now, would it any benefit to melting that into ethanol and filtering it to make a clean oil? Ultimately I’m not looking to get ultra stoned. Regular stoned is pretty cool. With oil i can vape make edibles and tinctures. Don’t have the resources available at present to ethanol extract without bringing over a bit too much green. Bho is something but a bit scary and expensive if open loop.
If it would work I’m thinking that is one way to avoid chlorophyll! Then i can still smoke the buds, right?:thinking:

Of course we harvest keiff on purpose! For me, it’s a product of trimming, some may just grow for it alone, not sure. You don’t need ethanol to use keiff for oil, it’s pure trichomes, can’t get any cleaner, no green taste whatsoever. I use a machine to make my oil, it’s as easy as decarbing weed, put it in machine, add oil of your choice, and push the button. You’ll have perfect oil in 2 hours. I make mine up ahead, then let it sit in a dark glass jar for a couple weeks, then pull from the top. It will be completely clear, no cloudy or particulate in it at all.

Took me a couple of days but I found it
So what’s going on here?
I read you pulverized for sifting but why packed stacks?
This image has been rolling around my bean since I seen it :exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head::green_heart::metal:t2:

Those “cakes?” That’s just how the machine collects it all for us. :call_me_hand:t3:
