You really want your jars to be looking like this fully colonized for the best flush and if you’re adding any kind of manure I’ve found in my past experiences it’s better to run a second oven pasteurization to kill off any unwanted bacteria. Some will disagree but I’ve found it to be an overall win cuts down on contamination ten fold

@Docnraq worded it best man a little more homework will save you so much time and money! Patience is the name of the game brother!!

I know 3 of the 4 jars i have are not ready to put to substrate. I have 1 from a much earlier grow from back in Feb i think its done the other 3 still have a ways to go. So i made a mistake about my woodpulp substrate option and then as i said i didnt know they dont like wood pulp so i will just go with CVG.

This one has finished colonization

I think this one will be finished next week sometime

this was surprised me all this area was not ready and one day i woke up and this was all full. It came from the center out its pretty cool seeing how fast this particular one grows.

Neither of those are even close. Did you shake the jars yet? They should look more like this:

you should also start your own grow journal! It is easier to follow along and I would love watching your grows and notes.

Almost ready. I like to let my jars sit for an extra week after they look fully colonized to ensure that the center of the jars are colonized too. Will take them to bulk in about 10 more days.

Such solid advice! Should do the same with a colonized bulk substrates.

Tag me on that if you do

Mushrooms grow in shit. Stop questioning. :metal:t3:

Like everyone here is saying only to put you on the right path man your jars should look this. You don’t want to see any of the grain in your jars to get the best outcome when you put them to substrate otherwise you’ll be not getting the most out of what you put in for work, time, money, etc. Patience is the name of the game

@Rayofsunshine, does it seem like the growth is “stalling out” at this point? I think what may be happening is that your grain is too dry when you’re first putting it into the jars.

In your second pic your mycelium appears to show rhizomorphic growth (fibrous instead of cottony). This is the type you want to see when you are fruiting, not spawning.

Not sure what technique you are using to prepare the grain, I always needed to par-cook it before pasteurization, I could never get the moisture right if I tried to do both steps together, I know some do.

Practice makes some what perfect. And there is never a perfect growing shrooms. Lol

My cube mycelium does all sorts of stages of growth in the same tub and at the same time. Sometimes it’s location specific, otherwise I don’t really know why. I wouldn’t worry about crazy specifics of mycelium formation, just look at your harvest…

This isnt quite right. While you do want to see lots of R.morphic mycelium prior to fruiting you will see both types inside a jar and inside a mono tub. The reason it is so prevelant in the pic of @Rayofsunshine jar is because it has not been shaken. Less fuzz in your grain jar is actually a good thing.

My bad. I guess I thought maybe it could have been a sign that it hit a dry pocket in the jar. Mycelium is mycelium at this point I guess, hopefully the shaking will help.

So so close lol

This one is also really close

This one was behind in terms of growth for a while and then bam in the middle of the night everything in the middle pushed to the outside.

And then I have this slow poke. She is taking her time or maybe the inside is growing fast and it will push to the outside later I don’t know but it’s not ready at all

Shake the jars!

I second @Caligurl Grab an propperly inflated bike tire and firmly, not overly so, slap the jar to bike tire till grain breaks loose of itself. You can use the palm of your hand but I promise you a sore hand after a dozen jars, and if it does break…better over tire away from you and your hand.

I bet they are done 48 hrs after you shake em.

@Rayofsunshine 1st. Are these just from camera or do black spots exist on circled areas?
