Problem with VPD

I’m in week 3 of flower and recently decided to install another light because one of the girls didn’t seem to get enough.
Problem is when I run both my vpd skyrockets to nearly 2, anywhere between 1.90 and 1.95. Humidity is 38-40 with temps reaching 78-80.
During night the vpd is good at .9 but the humidity gets to around 60 with temps 68.

What should I do to rectify this? I don’t really want to add more humidity when it’s already at 40 and I don’t want to decrease daytime temps either. I don’t think they would like it cooler.

Only other option is to run with what you have that I can see.
I know it’s not ideal but plenty of growers get to harvest some very nice frosty buds in very similar conditions .
At 3 weeks in flower they’ll soon need that 40% humidity to keep the chance of bud rot down anyway.
Just my .02.

If you lower your daytime temps it may balance out. Keeping rh between 40-55%.

Do you run your exhaust during lights out, I run mine 24/7? These plants can handle major fluctuations in the environment indoors the same as plants do naturally outside. They are very resilient.

Me too.
100% tent cubic, per minute.
Secondly, I run my dehumidifier to add 4F and reduce RH.

Man it’s so dry here in Maryland right now I just ordered 2 humidifiers for my tents lol. I have a dehumidifier in my bsmt that I use the water collection for my grows, it won’t collect anything in my desert :cactus: like house lol.

I tried some homemade ‘wicking’ buckets in the past but I just decided the hell with it and just went on Amazon and got even more invested in this project that I said in the beginning was gonna save me so much money…. boy what a joke that turned out to be lol. But I am growing some killer bud and my friends and family are the ones receiving the benefits lol so win win I guess.

Good plan.
Yes, never dreamed I would need more stuff to check my other stuff cause some stuff can’t be trusted.

I don’t run them 24/7, just when the lights are on to keep the heat down. Without it temps get to 90+.

I tried turning the light intensity down and so far it’s a bit better. Vpd is around 1.3 with temps around 78 and humidity is a bit high at 55%. It’s been rainy the last few days so I’m not sure if that’s raising it or the lights just aren’t drying up the air.

I think i need to order a good humidifier. If you know a good one that’s not too expensive, please let me know. Think I need to get the temps up a bit too. From what I’ve read lower temps slow down metabolism and I’m combining that with less light. Maybe I can try to add a trigger for when the ventilation kicks on. Once it hits about 85 it would run until it cools it down to 80ish.

I feel ya. I’ve seen how growing your own is cheaper but I think if you were a good grower already, had the initial operation costs of equipment, it would make the money back. But I couldn’t afford a big grow tent with everything so I would purchase something every paycheck. Besides the obvious tent, light and air filtration, need ph meter, good nutes, lux meter, calibration equipment, soil, etc.

Not as expensive as my previous hobby of building a high end pc but not cheap. Eventually id like to have a co2 kit too but I still gotta learn how to grow good bud before I start trying to really push yields. At this point it would probably just be a waste.

There’s a break even point expense wise buts it’s further down the road than I first thought lol.

In the same boat. Only on my 3rd grow. Lost nearly all my last harvest to bud rot. Think I messed up and didn’t trim them quick enough. I lost my job and kinda got stuck in a rut and just had them hanging for awhile. When I eventually went to trim them most had mold in it. My first harvest the trimming was so tedious and on top of being quite depressed I messed up months of work.

But we will get there. With the support of you all. This community is by far the most helpful I know of. Really enjoy the folks here.

So this site will get you on track. Read until your eyes fry. There’s a shit ton of knowledge to be had. Figure out how you want to grow, the style and median first, and then getting through veg and flower. Hanging isn’t hard at all. Depending on where your choosing to hang is important. Get as close to 60 degrees and 60% humidity. The closer you get to those numbers the longer you can drag out the dry. Low and slow is best like grilling chicken. Then when you’re ready to use glass or Grove bags buy some cheap humidity sensors off Amazon to keep in with your flower. Anything above say 72% has to be aired out a bit more than reinserted in its container or bag. Too dry is bad but too wet is game over with the mold. You’ll get this. Find your style you want and then you’ll find your mentors. Before you know it you’ll have more bomb ass weed than you and you peeps can consume. You’ll be a pharmer.
