Powdery mildew start of flower question

I am currently about 1-2 weeks into flower (autoflowers) and have discovered some PM on a few leaves, is captain jacks neem oil safe to spray at this stage? Was considering the milk/water option but if neem is safe I’ll use it. I’d like to attack it early as I’ve just started noticing some spots but I’m sure I have at least 5 weeks left just by germ date, last run with same genetics tell me I’ll be at least 1-2 weeks longer than that to finish.

Also if I do use the neem, should it be sprayed at lights on or lights off

Here’s the furthest along flowering plant in the tent, I don’t think it’s an overcrowding issue, I have 6x plants in a 4x8 dedicated to a 2x8’ section of the tent, a 16” oscillating fan in the corner, a 14” oscillating fan overhead blowing down on the plants, 6” spiderfarmer exhaust, temps 70-73f lights out and 79-80f lights on, RH 45-50% lights off, 40-45% lights on , both tent bottom flaps open and exhaust is in the middle so I draw from both sides through the plants, how I got it, not sure but it’s there so time to deal with it, tent was bleached before the grow started, never had PM before so new to me to deal with

A mix of hydrogen-peroxide in water works very well I believe it’s a 1:1 ratio. having good air flow is very important

Yeah it’s weird I added a 2nd oscillating fan this run to double my air circulation, and upgrade the exhaust from a 4” to a 6” and somehow get PM lol, best I can do is deal with it lol

Even started the dehu earlier in the run than I did on the last run

What kind of humidifier are you using? I use a cool mist type and sometimes notice white specks on things in my lung room. Capt. Jacks and neem oil are for pest control, I’ve heard of other growers using milk and water for WPM.

I use a warm vapor humidifier, same as I always do, but that may change lol, but humidifier has been off for about a week now, actually running my de-humidifier now, 50 Pt

It’s an overkill dehu btw lol lung room is only 20’ x 12’ x 8’ high, so just under 2,000 sq ft (or cubic feet I guess lol since I’m factoring in height) or less than half the capacity, but it also helps keep the lung room warm at night (dosent go under 71f is the lowest I’ve seen so far this run)

Exactly this! I had to spray mine twice in 2 weeks to deal with it. Always at lights out. You can give the tops and undersides of the leaves a good spray, and the buds too. And when you harvest, do a bud wash to make sure the rest of it is dead before you dry.

Forgot the bud wash part, good catch.

Yeah, this will be the first time I wash my tent buds. Outside plants, always!

Milk and water also work on PWM, but I just think the hydrogen peroxide is cleaner. I had someone spill milk in the back of my Charger one day on the way to see the Stones concert, it stank for weeks after that! Why couldn’t he drink beer like everyone else in the car?!?! Anyways, that sorta gave me an aversion to using milk!

Yeah I was considering it but that’s the part that worried me lol. I have a bottle of the captain jacks neem oil, it was also suggested to me to use copper fungicide. Trying to go with the lesser of 2 evils, Will the peroxide mix damage the plants at all?

  1. Does the type of peroxide or strength matter?
    And it’s just a 50:50 mix?

  2. Do you soak the plants and buds with it or just a light misting?

  3. Will the peroxide mix damage the plants at all?

I use the 3% hydrogen peroxide, mixed 50/50 with tap water and spray heavily at lights out. I’ve done it twice this run, once about 2 weeks ago, then a week later. No ill effects on the plant, the leaves, or the buds. And mine come down tomorrow, so good solution throughout the grow!
You probably only kill about 95% each spraying, but it holds it at bay pretty well. The bud wash is just to get the rest of the stuff off before the dry and the cure.

Hydrogen peroxide is great stuff. If you find you’re getting a cold or coming down with something, use a dropper and put about 3 or 4 drops in each ear for a minute or two (one side at a time so you can keep your head tilted). It’ll bubble and fizz away, feels weird but it helps fight off infections and stuff in people too! Or dogs, when they go crazy and flap their heads around like there’s something crawling in there!

Yeah I’ve used HP for earaches etc before, works great! I also picked up some of the southern AG fungicide, might double dose it with the peroxide and then the fungicide a few days later. Picked it because it’s a bacteria and organic, and I’m in a living soil grow, trying to avoid the neem oil if I can, some say it’s flavorless and odorless on the buds but why risk it, will peroxide kill my good bacteria in the soil if it gets on it?

Probably not. You don’t spray so much that it drips everywhere! If it does, it would only be the top surface of it.
