Possibly too much cal mag or maybe not enough?

I have 2 autoflowers goin on their 4th week and look to be starting their stretch.
i’m using happy frog, ocean forest and perlite at a 40/40/20% mix.

the watering before last I added a bit of cal mag. I added none on the last watering.
I was going to mix up some vermipost tea to add on the next cycle due to seeing lighter green leaves. but this issue popped up overnight on both plants.
it is contained to just the larger older fan leaves on both.
at first glance does this look like a deficiency or an abundance?

I’m gonna have to take some water samples after they get fed again tomorrow to check the runoff. not sure if I should add a bit of cal-mag to it or just do a straight water flush and test first.

I have very soft water and have to use max :green_heart::sign_of_the_horns:t2:
Old leafs won’t recover

Potassium deficiency; possible nute burn.

I wouldn’t flush the plant and if you do flush it, give it a drink of liquid fertilizer straight after flushing so it doesn’t suffer from nutrient deficiencies.

The spots on the leaves look like a lack of magnesium. A 1/4 level teaspoon of Epsom salts in 1/4 gallon of water and water the plant with it. Use hot tap water to dissolve the Epsom salts because they don’t dissolve well in cold water. After they have dissolved, let the water cool down then use it on the plant.

So… I have not done a flush or anything as of yet. the plants weren’t showing any signs that it was going to be a life or death scenario. it still feels like the very bottom part of their pot might be damp. but they are light enough that I’m going to do just a straight watering here in less than an hour when their lights kick on.
I continue to have strange little problems here and there with my water. I’m sure it’s horrible but I just can’t afford any R/O as of yet. so i’m more or less always expecting problems.
I was always pretty sure I had VERY hard water. but all the problems I’ve had, people said look like deficiencies. I managed to find a report from 2022 on my local supply.
so grain of salt, taken. but maybe I am just overdosing them and building up too many salts for soil?
My first Hydro grow was a lot of work. but I kept it in check. maybe only because I was swapping out the res buckets at very least every 2 weeks?

I just do not know what I am looking at here. but the Calcium and Mag seems pretty high compared to others i’ve seen.

Abundance. Those are nute burns.

Certainly not lacking calcium, do you have any recent run off numbers…PH and PPMs. Full plants pics would help and vessel size seeing as you haven’t started a nutrient routine. The FF mediums have had a history of PH buffering issues over the last several years :love_you_gesture:

Thanks for the tag. I agree… need numbers.

Sadly I was mistaken on how thirsty the girls would be on this watering.
I didn’t get enough real runoff to test.
I’ve got another 10 gallons dechlorinating in the meantime.
these are a couple pics of the 2 girls right now.
they don’t seem stressed enough to me that they cannot wait a bit to grab some runoff numbers before giving them any other nutrients.

but they are both in 3 gallon fabric pots with 40/40/20%, Happy Frog, Ocean Forest and Perlite.

do any of the symptoms look like heat stress? Because it could very well be. I just had all my surrounding pine trees cut down because after 20ish years. The shade they were providing was not worth the damage they were starting to cause by falling. lol.
but my bedroom(grow tent area) is now extremely hot after about 3 or 4pm.

This current and my last couple grows have pretty much just been fun little science experiments. to see what I can get away with on LST and other higher stress things. such as the heat. lol

So far i’ve been using Reflectix to see if keeping the root/soil zones cooler would do anything.
Now seeing how much hotter my room is. I’m going to build up some external window inserts of the Reflectix to Insulate the outside and then the inside of my 2 bedroom windows to hopefully drastically reduce the UV heat.

^ I meant to tag you in that reply. for a larger pic of them.
I’m doing whatever I can to pull and bend the plants as low as possible without using any topping on this cycle.

Doesn’t look like heat issues, I often hit 86 degrees inside my tents in the summer months. Curious on the run off PH and PPMs. The amended FF medium could be depleted of nutrients seeing the plants size and age :love_you_gesture:
