Using a bottled water that has a pH of 7.1 on seedlings less than a week old. When should I start pH adjusting and what is a good number to shoot for in a soil grow? The soil is FFHF and should be pH optimized Also would lemon juice be okay to lower it?
@OverallQuill80 You should started next time you watering you pH all time should be 6.0 to 6.5 in soil more in ff
For low you pH and you want to do homemade used drops of vinegar
welcome to the forum
Took a closer look and it’s spring water. Used it to wet the soil in the germination tray to prep and only misting the inside of the dome cover so far.
3rd day in soil. Do they look like they are struggling?
I feel like the one in the first pic should be opening up by now.
I pH tested a soil sample solution (calibrated apera) and have 6.7. I’m probably just over tending them but what do you think @Nicky ? You’re on point every time you give me advice. Thank you.
Thanks @Nicky.
Everything looks fine except your clear container theres a reason why most potting container are made black
Figured it would be easier to see root growth. I’ve never tried gardening of any kind since I was six or seven. Let me guess, allows light to get to wetter soil and possibly promote bacterial/fungal growth? Am I on the right track? @EMTCPR3
Looking good, those cotyledons will open up. Moisture is key during this stage as they feed themselves by absorbing moisture through their leaves until the roots have established 12-14 days . Safe to uncover them and start a watering regiment. @Nicky said within the range is how I do it as well. Some nutrients need higher and some lower to be absorbed. Key is staying within the range and not PHing to the same number all the time
I would just like to add , I recommend purchasing PH up-and-down for future use. Amazon or eBay
Happy growing!
Lots of acid can lower your pH and lots of alkaline can raise your pH.
But what elements do you want in your grow??
For me I like to use products that add to the growth of my plants.
I use General Hydroponics pH Down because it has phosphoric acid to lower the pH to the proper level.
Or,
General Hydroponics pH Up because it has potassium hydroxide and potassium carbonate to raise the pH.
Your plants will thank you for the extra phosphate and/or potassium.
Now, if your making lemonade, I prefer lemons.
If u wanna water only not going use distilled water not spring. Distilled acts as ro water and if just water won’t need phd as it will take on the soils pH. Stick as close to 6.5 for pH as u can after nutes r mixed up maintain a 6.5 thru the grow and u should be good. Always always always pH especially if u add anything to the water source
You threw me off with the new tag name image
Yeah that’s been a long time coming I’ve been carrying that K for about 4 years.
That’s the one I was accustomed to seeing. Congrats again on the award, well deserved! See ya cruising all the post, I lurk in the background unless it’s an issue I’ve had and can offer up some advice.
Thanks ! you must be a bird hunter Looks like a German short hair.
I am a bird hunter when I have the time. She’s a Weimaraner, couldn’t hunt anything but the food bowl but was a traveling buddy with me for many years in the construction industry.
