PH, PPM testers differences?

Can anybody tell me the difference between an in ground soil PH tester, a water PH tester, and a PPM tester? I’m still confused on what the PPM tester is and what I am looking for if I need to purchase one. Currently have a soil PH tester and water PH test strips. Thanks!

PPM stands for Parts per Million and it is a measure of the nutrient concentration in your soil. You will have better results from your grow if you measure and manage runoff PPM.

I assume you mean a pronged meter? If so, these are very inaccurate. pH test strips are nearly as bad. I suggest a quality digital meter.

Bluelab and Apera both make great pH and PPM meters.

This meter measures the dissolved solids in your liquid and gives you an answer in parts per million. It is still an approximation as it measures electrical conductivity same as a PH meter. PH meter will tell you the soil acidity and is used to adjust nutrient levels so one doesn’t overfeed plants.

Some testers are very expensive. Normally, if you go by feeding chart, you don’t need to get too carried away with a PPM meter. This is my opinion. I haven’t broke mine out since I bought it. PH meter is very important. Ppm, ph and soil testers are very expensive. Or they just don’t last long. Your questions were answered the top. Good luck with your journey.
