I mean dolomite lime specifically…two different limes and one will react right away as for ph thats always some thing to monitor. If it has been coming out at 4 and going in at 5.7 that there is saying there is a toxic build up some where through the medium.
I make sure my water is PhD every time 3 out of 7 days I monitor the runoff. So ill check once at the start of the once in the middle of the week and once at the end of the week.
The other 4 days I usually keep trying if ppms and monitor environment to know how much my plants are eating or if they aren’t and need a break
Its hard to check the runoff i dont have a tray under pots i do what i can some times it collects on the weed barrier where i can check it…
2 of the plants i am seeing magnesium i gave them some bush doctor sledgehammer @Majiktoker
I have a different problem…I just did a big flush which seemed to have little or no effect. I used almost 80 (!) liters of rainwater to flush an 8 liter pot. I pH’ed the water to less then 5 and was getting a runoff of over 7, between 7.2 and 7.4. At first, the runoff water was the color of weak coffee and later was almost clear, but I still couldn’t get the pH less than 7. I assume because I was using a crappy pH meter which was giving false readings I’ve got a massive salt build up. Any ideas how to fix this or is more flushing the only solution? Thanks! @Countryboyjvd1971@Majiktoker@Wolfmankush@bob31
I think the best option would be to get a flush agent like sledgehammer by foxfarms which is designed to break up the salt deposits
Not sure what is available on your side of the world bro
You tried with rain water and it disnt help at all @DieHigh55
Guess I’ll have to try that sledgehammer stuff, don’t know what we have here that could break up the salt deposits, except Leffe beer maybe. Yeah, I let this go one on too long before getting a new pH meter.
Yeah im bot sure about any natural type stuff that would work
So you have any grow shops or garden centers near you
Maybe @garrigan62 knows of something
We have garden centers, but they aren’t really geared towards growing cannabis😉, for that I’d have to go to Holland which is only about an hour away. I’ll just order it online and save the hassle.
They may have something that breaks up salt doesn’t have to be for mj specifically
I would try stopping by and asking if they have something that breaks up salt deposits in you vegetable containers hahahahaha we all love tomatoes don’t we lol
Yes we sure do love tomatoes, especially smoking them. This hobby leads to some funny situations: my wife went a pet store recently and I asked her to get me some pH down. The kid in the store was very helpful and asked her if we have an aquarium…no. A swimming pool? No. Then he kind of looked at her with a knowing smile and didn’t ask any more questions. But thanks for the help, the plant has humongous colas which I’d really like to see crossing the finish line.
I have no doubt you will brother
Yeah it can definitely put you in funny situations lol
It’s even funnier when you know they know haha
Any time @DieHigh55
I have calibration fluid , use it once and toss it in the humidity bucket. There is a thread about growing on a budget, I think @SmoknGranny was on it , and there was talk about the yellow pH meters. Stay the F away from them! Plague, poison, Peking pestilence! I ordered something like FF Sledgehammer to break down the salts, what a mess! But…we will get by! We will survive!
