Outdoor guerilla grow in the Alaskan Bush: the 3 Stooges

Rain is either our friend or enemy for those of us who grow outdoors :slightly_smiling_face: It looks like @Sasquatch has got you covered with some good advice. :+1: And with your gals in your truck NO pesky rabbits :rabbit2:

I’ve watched rabbits stand up on their hind legs, on logs & rocks, to reach the high leaves on plants. In fact, there’s a line of willow trees down our road that have been debarked (about a 3 foot tall band from each tree). Not the handywork of moose, for sure! Bunnies are cute little blighters, though.

True. But I’m hoping they stay out of your truck bed

Oh, they better. If I look out my window & see a gang of rabbits climbing my truck, I’ll pee my pants laughing & then cry.

Don’t let Mr. Lahey find out! You’ll be out of the park, for sure!

Lol Trailer Park Boys is a stupid show, but I admit to watching it. It was the first thing I thought of.

I’m glad you got something figured out for now :+1:

It’s working well! Kinda has a ridgeline, so all the rain is dripping off nicely. The girls are still out in the chilly humidity, of course, but at least they’re not being drowned.

How do outside growers deal with the unpredictability of nature? Don’t get me wrong, next summer I plan on trying again, but sheesh…so much extra worry about things I can’t control. Thank goodness for duct tape & visqueen.

They’ve really taken off over the last 24 hours! They must’ve been hungry!

Ok, well to me they look much fuller than yesterday, anyway. :grinning:

And, it’s still raining. Any outdoor growers in the Mat-Su Valley are having a bad week. The weather service is warning of severe flooding, down there. I’m several hundred miles north of them.

Yep I’m stoned

I actually watch that show when I’m at work! I usually avoid those stupid gag shows, but this one leaves you liking humanity, rather than shaking your head at them.

Also, I usually don’t name my plants, but these girls are going to be my Summer Stooges: Moe is the big one, Larry is the middle one, and Shemp is the shrimp. Shemp would have been Curly, but she’s a shrimp & shrimp sounds like, “Shemp”. I know they’re ladies, but as Stooges, they wear their Moe, Larry, and Shemp with pride.

As a Stooge fan I like :+1:

@dbrn32 I’m going to order the kit & assemble it myself. Is there an in-line meter I can wire in to tell me the wattage being used, to make the dimming function more precise? Something under $30, if possible? Otherwise, I might go with a killawatt or just eyeball it.

There’s a meter, it functions very similar to a killawatt. By the time you get it all hooked up and running I’m not sure it would be much cheaper than grabbing a killawatt. Depends on how you plan to mount and wire it in I would say

@dbrn32 Thanks!

The killawatt I thought about getting is $23.

What supplies do I need to wire that box in? I saw others like that one, too, some with wires. Would I need to buy wire for this one?

I’m actually fairly confident about wiring things, as I rewire lamps & things all the time (5 cats can chew through a lot of cords…well, one cat out of those 5 does all the damage). I also installed 3 outdoor lights, yesterday, so I’m feeling ready to wire the world!

@dbrn32 How about this? It was on one of my wish lists, so I must’ve looked at it a while back.

Either a killawatt, your recommendation, or this one, I think.

Is there a particular reason you picked that one? I would go with one of the others simply because of price. You’re not growing on a single circuit bigger than 20 amps right? Your qb kit shouldn’t draw more than around 4 amps.

I picked up a project box from amazon for like $6 and used ends off an extension cord and a couple of cable glands for mine. All things considered was like a couple dollars short of just buying another killawatt.

Up to you though, they will all do what you’re looking for.
