Organics with the Hippie

Those are only stickers from Bubble Bag dude. Most all the smaller washers on the market are the same units. Just labeled different. I got our units off Amazon for under $100 each. I ended up customizing the drain hose and valve.
The white stuff is just fine from the spin cycle.

Sometimes you can see it. Other times you can’t!!

Also known as gray mold, botrytis is a parasitic fungus that can attack your cannabis plants at any time. This was caught while we were bucking. Way later in the game than I would like but better late then never. Probably 25lbs loss overall.
Botrytis cinerea conidia are asexually produced spores that can remain alive for years until the conditions are favorable for their new development.

I’m not 100% sure why this arose but it’s a good example of why you ‘must’ fully sanitize your growing area periodically throughout the grow and between every grow cycle. Set prevention measure into action!

Happy farming everyone and happy Holidays…

What a shame, but thanks for the reminder. Sorry for the loss of all that hard work

Wow, difficult to contain and easy to spread, the opposite of what we need.
I am reminded of being alcohol sprayed before allowed enter to commercial grow rooms, I visited, last spring.

Now that the bubble has been air dried for a good amount of time what do you do with it all?

I like to put all the 120micron into a small jar. I find it most pleasurable to sprinkle it on a bowl or to infuse doobs with.

As for the 45 micron… well it gets alittle more attention. Once the product is thoroughly dried I portion it out. For these runs I’m weighing out just over 28 grams.
After weighing out the correct amount I place it in between a turkey bag. (I cut one turkey bag to make two pieces. Cut down the edges then cut the end off)
Make sure to place this on a surface than can withstand slight heat.

One of the most important parts to this process is the water vessel. I like to use a large clear 40oz growler. I like it to be clear so when I’m pressing I can physically see the product. It also gets magnified when you are looking through the water.
I boil enough water to fill the growler. This will be used to set on top of the turkey bag that is sandwiching the bubble.
The boiling water is the perfect temperature to allow for a nice slow Decarboxylation.

Now comes the Decarboxylation process and the pressing. Decarboxylation is the process of turn THCA into THC. The his is basically what the flame of your light led dose when you burn your bowl or joint.

I like to first set the grower (filled with boiling water) on top of the pile of bubble. (You can burn the turkey bag. Always watch out for this. If this happens stop and replace with a new turkey bag.)
I set the growler on the bubble and allow the heat and weigh of the growler to slowly press the bubble. I roll the growler like I’m rolling out dough. Using a small amount of slight downward pressure.

Slow and steady definitely wins this race. The heat from the water will slowly warm the bubble. Causing the resin to warm and melt into one another. This forming one giant mass of resin.
I like to watch the bubble through the water in the growl and see the process take place. Once you do this a few times you will not only be able to see the slightest change but be able to feel the smoothness of the bottle rolling over the mass.

I work each slab of bubble for about 30 minutes or so. It can be very tedious of the wrists. One slab is just over 28 grams.

You want each pressed slab to be this. Some even turn translucent. I like to get mine about 1/8 or less this.

After the first pressing session I stick the slab in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the resin the garden to one another. I do this so I can rip it out of the turkey bag and set it in a new free bag for a second pressing.

After I remove the slab from the freezer I remove it from the first turkey bag and set it on a new one. Before you press the bubble a second time make sure to fold it over on its self. Like needing dough.

This will once again allow the resin the melt into one another. Forming of giant terpene locked rein mass.

Once I have positioned my he mass onto the turkey bag I start the pressing process a second time. You may have to get freaking boiling water.
Once again use the heat and and light downward pressure to melt the bubble into one large flat slab.

Remember, you want to Decarboxylation the bubble not straight up burn it. Sometimes less is best.

Once all the bubble has melted into one another the second pressing is done. Some people recommend three pressing. I have tried the third and have found no benefits. I have actually found negatives to it as you come very close to completing over Decarboxylating the product.

Next week we will look alittle more into the formation of the elusive Temple Ball. Time of the only forms of hash that will actually cure over time and improve rather than slowly degrade.

Happy hashing everyone and Happy New Years…

Excellent tutorial. When I have thought about doing this I thought something like a heated marble / granite slab would be good to roll the kief on. I have a 20x20" piece that I kneed bread dough on. I thought I’d toss it in the oven set at 150 - 175 to warm up. Then use a clear wine bottle to roll it.
Yea Nay ?

The only thing I can see with heating up the marble would be that once you set that turkey bag down on that flat surface the entire bag will be heated. This causing the entire mass to heat up continuously. I could see this creating some serious hot spots causing the turkey bag to melt pretty quick. You would have ‘way’ less control over the process.

With the boiling water in the glass bottle it allows the heat to be transferred to a certain area of the working material. You can more easily move the heated area around to reach your desired results. Never staying in one spot to long.

@Big123 miss ya brotha. I’m willing to bet your flower turned out to be fire this year. Beautiful work!

@TT Happy New Years to you also. Hope you have an amazing year full of green nuggets, delicious hash and piles and piles of doobies.

@DEEPDIVERDAVE The Temple Ball is probably my favorite form of hash. After about 6 months you start to notice a cure. The smoke because smoother and the flavors/aromas start to mesh into one. It’s pretty amazing! Glad to have you aboard fellow farmer.

Not a posting recommendation, just confirmation, more balls out there.
My appology HR1, not intending to offend, more posts offer more views.
I learn from your postings and this is anoth opportunity to learn cause I don’t know, what i dont know.
I smoked brown hash in the 80’s. I just learned about keife and it smokes nice. This was found, during quality check of stored products, found naturally bound, last night, and is now jared for longer.
